• A meeting of seismic station operators was held in Trinidad and Tobago from April 4-6, 2006. The meeting was attended by representatives of 14 institutions in the region.

• IRIS and the University of Sao Paulo organized the workshop “Managing Waveform Data and Related Metadata from Seismic Networks”. Representatives of every seismic network in the Caribbean attended this meeting from July 10-14, 2006.

• Intermediate Level Earthworm (seismic data exchange platform) was offered by Mr. Angel Rodriguez, USGS Contractor, at the University of Panamá from December 13-16.

Communications Plan for the Interim Advisory Information Service to the Caribbean and

Adjacent Regions

In July, 2006, The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center submitted the Communication Plan requested by ICG/CARIBE-EWS I for the Interim Tsunami Advisory Information Service to the Caribbean Sea and Adjacent Regions.

•Plan was approved

•The Member States will review the preliminary forecasts points that are under a Member State’s jurisdiction and will inform the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center of any modifications.

•The PTWC will carry out regular communication tests among the participants.

REGIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON TSUNAMI SCIENCE AND SERVICES FOR IMPACT MITIGATION

ICG/CARIBE-EWS II will organize, in coordination with the Regional IOC Subcommission, just prior to the next IOCARIBE X Session, Venezuela (April-May/2008) a scientific symposium under the main theme: “Tsunami in the Caribbean: science and services for impact mitigation”.

• Establish an initial core system for detecting and verifying tsunami with the CARIBE-EWS by the end of 2008.

• Assist member states in the

development of down-stream capacities to provide warning information at the community level.

• Actively plan to take over the full responsibility for the system with a Caribbean Tsunami Warning Center in the region at least by 2010 and thus end with great appreciation the interim coverage provided by PTWC.
