Joining a trade union means empowerment:
• Gain access to all necessary informationfor your professional life : know yourrights, know how to have them respec-ted, be guided through processes andprocedures and learn how to interpretofficial documents.....
• Get advice and help through specificprocedures such as applying for Time-Credit, temporary work, interim work,applying for holidays, what to do incase of illness or a work accident, whenyou are being laid off or when yourlabour contract is being changed, ….
• Receive free legal aid and assistance:You never know when you might needit!
The importance of shop stewards on the floor
On a collective level, union representa-tion is beneficial for all workers.
For example :• To provide a better welcome and induc-
tion period for new colleagues• To negotiate better working conditions
in call centres• To enforce correct and fair wages for all• To ensure high quality training that
meets the expectations and needs ofthe workers
For individual workers benefitsinclude:
• Obtaining answers to specific questionsfor their situation
• Receiving immediate individual assis-tance in case of incidents concerningtheir employer or superior.
