It changes based on WHO is doing the action!
We also conjugate verbs according to WHEN the action takes place (tensetense)
The preterite tense is used to describe an action completed in the PAST.

The verb ‘ir’ means to go has an irregular conjugation in the preterite.
Yo fui = I went Tú fuiste = you went
ejemplo= Yo fui al centro comercialI went to the mall.
The verb hacer is also irregular when conjugated in the preterite tense.
Yo hice – I did / I made Tú hiciste – You did / You made
Ejemplo: Yo hice la tarea. ¿Hiciste tú ejercicio?
