ASCA’s Three Major Goals
1. Influence and shape correctional policy through acceptance by policy makers of ASCA’s agenda that will be grounded in empirical data and thorough analysis.
2. Identify and serve as a clearinghouse to share with its members proven correctional practices, standards, and performance measures to ensure the furtherance of successful state-of-the-art activities.
3. Support its membership through a regimen of training and professional development programs designed to enhance member’s professional skills and awareness on advance-ments in the profession.

Recent ASCA Initiatives
• Expansion of the PBMS project
• Management Information Technology Seminar for State Corrections Administrators and Chief Information Officers
• ASCA Clearinghouse (to provide timely information on the availability of Federal funding, training, technical assistance, and research and planning, etc.)
• Urban Institute/ASCA collaboration on an NIJ research study of correctional policies and practices relating to sexual violence in prisons

Performance Measures Project
• ASCA will establish a process to enable its member states to maintain the measures, definitions and indicators as current and relevant to contemporary practice.

• This project requires the involvement of all ASCA Members.
• Performance Measures Subcommittee mem-bers will be periodically requesting feedback from the ASCA Membership. The feedback of all ASCA members will be crucial to the success of the project.
• Updates and Information regarding the Performance Measures Project will be given during the ASCA Business Meetings, All Directors Training, and New Directors Training.
