Anyone having a TTY can call other party who has a TTY. If one of the parties does not have a TTY, there are relay services which one can call via voice or TTY. Te relay service will call the other party and relay the conversation between parties as in a normal conversation.
In recent years, more and more Deaf people have been using text pagers with small keyboards for communicating with each other electronically. You may see a Deaf person typing frantically, using his or her thumbs, on one of these pagers. Deaf people are also making heavy use of e-mail.
