Roots and Affixes What meaningful part can be added to the front of a base word

Introduction Prefixes: Dis- ; Pro-

Dis- = means “absence,” “opposite,” “to reverse,” “to remove,” or “not.”

Pro- = means “forward” or “before.”

Roots: Dic/ Dict ; Spect Dic/ Dict = means “to tell, say.” Spect = means “to see, watch.”

Suffixes: -Able ; - Ous -Able = means “capable of” or “tending to.” - Ous = means “full of” or “characterized by.”

Prepositional Phrases begin with preposition and end with a noun or pronoun
