Script by Lachlan Bone
Pitch: A man realising his self-destructive behaviour locks
himself in his room, however his addiction follows him, as
he’s harassed by someone from his past, eventually giving in.
as he collapses onto the floor.
Scripts:
INT Bedroom, afternoon
Scene begins, quick shots between different features of the
room, ending in a still shot of the ceiling light, cutting to
a close-up on the protagonist, he lets out a sigh, before
turning to his side, a pile of chairs keeps the door shut and
voice mails sound out one after another on a long lasting mid-
shot.
Voicemail 1 (Male):
Hey man, me and carl’re going down to the tracks, feel free to
come along!
Voicemail 2 (Male):
You got the money? You’re three weeks off of your next payment
and if I’ gotta chase your ass down myself I will. It’s either
pay up or ship the fuck out.
Voicemail 3 (Male):
Hey man, I thought we had a deal! Come on, it’s been weeks, if
you’re down on money that’s fine but the more time you spend
away from this sorta work, the more the boss’ gonna have it
with you, and you of all people know not to fuck with him.
Voicemail 4 (Female):
Danny, me and your father are comin’ to visit soon, we wanna
see how city life’s been fairin’ ya. Hope to see you soon,
stay safe! (Background chatter).
Voicemail 5 (Female):
Hey… thanks for helping me out earlier, if you hadn’t brought
the stuff like you did I’m not sure what I would’ve done…
you’re a real help, thanks.
Voicemail 6 (Female):
Hey, I’m going out to the woods like usual, wanna hang out
there? I’ve got some drinks and you’ve got the goods so c’mon!
Let’s have some fun!
Voicemail 7 (Female):
Hey, why’d you not show up?… y’know I need it man, so come
here and sell me some, I’ll even pay extra if it get you off
your ass.
Voicemail 8 (Female):
…I’m sorry, I-I don’t know what I need to say to make you help
me but I-I just can’t help myself… I’m freaking the fuck out
and I need you… why can’t you just help me?… I just need a
little more… Please… P-please?- (Sound of voicemail ending)
Voicemail 9 (Female):
…I hate you…
(Beep)
A hand grabs for the answering machine as we follow it towards
the protagonist still laying on his bed. The hand gently
caresses him, before embracing his body from behind.
Girl:
What’s wrong?… Isn’t this what you wanted?…
The man sighs out, the girl cradling him from behind,
interspliced with shots of him clearly alone in the room.
Girl:
You said you’d help me… and you did, I’m much better now, so
what do you want?
She cheekily smiles;
Girl:
They’re gonna come for you… I wouldn’t stop them if I were
you, so come on… let’s be proactive.
Man:
No…
Girl:
Come on… let’s have some fun like we used to. You were always
so stressed… it could only help now. So come on, let me help
you…
[Cut to next scene]
EXT Woods, Afternoon
The man sits on a lone wooden chair in the woods, the sound of
cold winds blowing as the girl approaches him, and cradles him
in her arms.
Girl:
Don’t worry… you’re safe now… nothing can hurt you…
Cut back to the room, where the man is seen grabbing for the
previously shown package.
[Back to woods]
The music begins, as we see the man become surrounded in
flames in the woods with the girl, whilst in the room he
collapses to the ground, clearly dying from overdose; the
music builds as the woods become engulfed in flames, and the
man dies in his room.
[Fade to black]
Voicemail (Female):
I’m going now, i don’t think I’ll be seeing you again, but it
you ever need me again, you know where to find me…
[End]
