Present perfect vs Simple past

You can use the

Present Perfect to

describe your

experience.

It is like saying, "I

have the

experience of..."

I have been to Japan.

I’ve never been in Japan.

Use the simple

past to describe

details of that

experience in the

past.

Have you ever met Nathan in

person?

Of course! I met him when I

was ten.

Structure

The present perfect is formed from the

present tense of the verb have and the past

participle of a verb:
