Endocrine–Produces chemical substance
and releases it across the surface of the gland.
–AKA ductless glands–Examples: pituitary, adrenal,
hypothalamus

Exocrine–Produces chemical substance
and releases through a duct or pore
–AKA glands with ducts–Examples: lacrimal, sudoriferous,
sebaceous
What makes a hormone a hormone?
1. A chemical produced by an endocrine gland.
2. Secreted into and distributed by the bloodstream.
3. Received by target cells.
Example: ADH is secreted by pituitary gland and works to reduce the permeability of the collecting ducts.
Identify the gland, hormone, and target cells:
Aldosterone is secreted by kidneys and acts to regulate sodium resorption by the nephron.
