Unit Six – Air Pollution Air is one of the most important constituent of man’s environment. An average man needs about 12-15 kg of air to breath per day which is about 10 times more than the food needed. So a small concentration of pollutant in air becomes more harmful to human beings in comparison to similar concentration of pollutants in food. Air pollution is defined as the presence of any solid, liquid or gaseous substance (including noise) present in atmosphere in concentrations that may tend to be harmful to human beings, or any living creature e.g. plants or property.
