HISTORY: United Friends was founded in the year of 2011 by a team of young social activists some of whom are youth with an objective to work for the society and marginalized sections of society this organization for

the consciousness ,empowerment and overall development of the disadvantaged section of the society on the values of peace, justice and equity. United Friends is founded on the basis of Gandhian ideology as

it pertains to the alleviation of human suffering and injustice and the development of vulnerable people. They have also vast experience gathered from working in NYK, a Sports & Youth Affairs Govt. of India Registered Organisation working for development of poor in India having been associated with it for

around 50 years and District Legal Service Authority. United Friends is a pioneering organisation

with its innovative approaches for developmental efforts for rural poor and is working with commitment

for the development underprivileged, irrespective of gender, creed, cast, class or ethnicity.

INTRODUCTION: United Friends has emerged to give a shape you all those welfare activities were mitigated by the local

youths, school students and others motivated people of Kamalpur. Although this organised initiative has

been started on 1st January, 2011 under the banner of the United Friends, but it has got its legal identity during the year 31st March, 2012.

It was moulded with the inspiration of Mahatma Gandhi for his dedicated services, love and social work

for the fellow people, neighbour and the countrymen. Considering the above motivation, the initial support was received from total number of 14 people determined to do some social works for the needy

and deprived people of the area.

However, the initial services were restricted within the educational support, financial support to complete marriage of girl, constructions of village road, provided blood to the patient etc. Later the effects of the

dedicated services have encouraged the more people to join their hands with the organisation.

Instructions like Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) Dhalai Tripura Districts has also extended their support to

utilize this motivation and service in and around the Kamalpur to mobilize youths in -groups through the

organisation. District’s Youth Club of Dhalai Tripura Districts for the year 2014 has further encourages the members

and volunteers to give their best for the development of the people.

Therefore, the supports and cooperation received from these organizations like Nehru Yuba Kendra Dhalai Tripura, Voluntary Health Associations of Tripura, Tripura State Social Welfare and Advisory

Board Tripura State Pollution Control Board, Centre for Social Work and become our guiding factors to

continue our services aiming towards target to development child & women.

Legal Status: United Friends is registered under section XXI of Societies Registration Act 1860. In the year 31st March2012. This Organisation has also made Permanent Account

Number.

Vision: To establish an honest, peaceful, robust and prosperous human society.

Mission: Utilise education for betterment of the people and especially women. Create opportunities

for generation of income with gender privileges. Guide future generations for creative

activities.

Goal: To work to develop spiritual, mental, physical, and economical and social stands of

the rural people of Dhalai District.

Strategy: The strategy of United Friends organisation is based on local situations and to have a

balanced approach for its set targets and practical relevance: Accordingly the operational strategies of the United Friends are: Utilize locally available resources to imitate

development actions. Show the various ways to recover from the poverty and its effects.

Balance development with health, education and economic activity. Introduce new social and economic activities for better livelihoods. Adopt new initiatives to be at per with latest

development actions.

MANAGEMENT: The management of United Friends follows a two-tire system as mentioned below:

General Body

and

Executive Committee

Besides, United Friends also has various committees for implementing and monitoring of its

projects/programmes. However, the details of two-tire management system of United Friends and its other Committees responsible for successful implementation are as follows:

General Body:

The supreme authority of United Friends is General Body. The initial General Body was consists

of 14(Eleven) but presently the General Body of United Friends is consists of 17 (Seventeen)

membership.

Executive Committee: The Executive Committee is total responsible for its management, operations and also to confirm

successful implementation of all the development programmes of the Organisation. The

Executive Committee also delegating it’s powers to the programme Implementation Committees

helping for successful implementation of its programmes.

The Executive Committee of United Friends is comprises of 9(Nine) members nominated and/or elected by the General Body.

Acknowledgements: United Friends acknowledgements for all the financial, physical, and social supports extended

towards successful implementations of our activities. These supports have not only motivated us

to organize our efforts but also encouraged us to deliver our best for all-round development of

the organisation.

OPERATIONS:

The operations of the United Friends are mainly focusing towards integrated development of the people in its operational area. However, the organisation believes that women has got a greater

role to play in the process of development and unable to do that due lack of opportunities.

Therefore, considering the limitation of its resources, the organisation is mainly focuses on the

following areas:

Health Programmes.

District Disaster Management

Legal Service

Livelihood Development Programmes. Women’s Development Programme

People Mobilization Programmes and

Misc. Programmes (New Initiatives)

Health Programmes:

(A) BLOOD DONATION CAMP: United Friends organized a Blood

Donation Camp in collaboration with

the Blood Bank, Government Hospital-

Kamalpur on February 9, 2011. The

stated camp was organized at

Kamaleshwari Temple, Kamalpur. The

camp was inaugurated by Mr. Pallab

Chakraborty in presence of Dr. Anjan

Das, SDMO Kamalpur BSM Hospital.

More than fifty (15) donors have

attended the camp but due to lack of

proper eligibility criteria only twenty-

nine donors were allowed to donate their blood. Maximum donors have

given their blood for the first time and

among two were also female. Organization has also received Rs.600/- as an appreciation for

organizing the stated Blood Donation Camp from the Tripura State Blood Transfusion Council,

Department of Health, Government of Tripura for the stated Camp.

People Mobilization Programme:

OBSERVATIONAL OF CHILDREN’S

DAYS:

The Organisation has organised celebration of

Children’s Day on 16/11/2013 at Girls S.B.

School Kamalpur and also observed various

national and international days to encourage

the Children, Youths, Women and Men to involve them in the rural development

activities and also in the process of nation

building initiatives.

WORKSHOP ON CULTURAL AFFAIRS:

The Organisation organised by Song & Dance for Backwards for 10 days at Naya Para, Kamalpur

on 4th August 2013, accompanied with ICAT Kamalpur Dhala. This Programme has been

inaugurated by Sri Prasenjit Choudhury, I.C.O. Kamalpur I.C.A.T. Total 50 No Backwards

Children are participated on this workshop.

CULTURAL PROGRAMME:

To promote the harmony among the people of the area, the Organisation has organised a colourful

evening on August 14, 2013 at Subarna Jayanti Colony J.B. School, Reputed Artist on Palligeeti

Lok Geeti, Bhatiwali and Dhamaeel has participated and made it a grant success.

CELEBRATION OF SACHIN DEB

BARMAN:

To tribute great musician and singer of

India Sri Sachin Deb Barman on

organisation has been arrange an

auspicious cultural programme 11-10-

2013 in front of ICAT office Kamalpur

like Sachin Deb Barman’s Song, Dance

etc. This auspicious programme has

inaugurated by Mr. Amal Majumder,

Member of Kamalpur Nagar Panchayet,

and Kamalpur Dhalai Tripura. Local

Artists are participated and entertained to

local villagers.

Legal Literacy & Legal Awareness

Programme:

a) The Organisation has been organised a

Legal Literacy & Legal Awareness

Programme at Subarna Jayanti Colony on

04/07/2013 and on this programme

presided by Mr Joydev Hrishidas a social

worker, Ld. JM 1st Class of Kamalpur

Court, Pomander Prakash Purakaiysta

aware the women how they can get their

rights in every part of their life and protect

them from domestic violence, inviting,

child lifter and many others. Total 100 No

people was attend this programme.

Photo Exibition:

United Friends has been organised a photo exhibition ensuing Durga Puja vanued at

Kamaleshweri Kalibari premises, Kamalpur

on 11-10-2013 to 13-11-2013. Professor

Srimonta Roy, Government Degree College

Kamalpur also show his excellent

photography on this exhibition.

Quiz Competition:

To encourage the student, women and pilgrims of Durga Puja the Organisation has organised an

attractive Quiz Competition on 11/10/2013 to 13/10/2013 at open stage of near ICAT Office. On

this programme crowd was heavy. During the Durga Puja occasion, this organisation has been

celebrated Veneration on the 107th Birth Anniversary of Sachin Debbarman. This programme

was inaugurated by Mr Birendra Paul, Vice Chairperson of Kamalpur Nagar Panchayet. Mrs Rupali Bhattacharjee and his team sang lots of Sachin Deb Barman’s Song.

Demonstration on Disaster:

The awareness campaign was organised at

Bilashchara G.P. on 28th & 29th

September, 2013 demonstration on first

aid methods on the causes of disaster like landslides, earthquake, floods and fire

incidents etc. The R.P were Rabel

Disaster cannot be prevented but their

effects can be mitigated to a contain

extent.

Human Rights Day:

We organised Human Rights Day on

10/12/2013 at Kamalpur Bhitar Bazar

presided by Sri Rathindra

Bhattacharjee an old Merchant of

Kamalpur Bazar. There is orator were

Women’s Development Programme:

(a) World Women’s Day: The organisation has always provided a

major focus on the development of the

women in its operational area.

Accordingly, the organisation has taken

its action to make it at per with the

initiatives taken world-wide for the

development of the women.

Accordingly, on 8th March 2014, the

organisation has organised a day-long

developmental programme on World

Women Day.

The first half of the programme was

mainly concentrated on the Women and their Rights. Mr. Narayan Datta a

Member of T.H.R.O. has enriched the participants with his common discussion. He also

presented a few model cases for the women and their rights. He further mentioned the process to

follow for raise voice against any act of their rights.

During the programme following are the basic areas where elaborated and specialized

discussions were organized for the participants:

• Women and Women Rights,

• Women and Environment

• Women and Income Generation

• Women and Economic decision making power

The aforesaid programme has provided opportunities to the participants to get valuable and

expertise inputs from various resource-persons from different departments, voluntary

organisation and educational institutions. Discussion was there on various practical problems and

cause of their difficulties.

The programme was organised under the leadership of Ms. Subithi Bardhan a trained worker of

the United Friends

Future Plans:

To ensure the success in every initiative, United Friends has tried to visualize its future cour se

of actions in the following manners:

1. Health Programmes:

The Organisation will intends to involve more on health related programmes. Since RCH has a

specific role to play in its operational area. The Organisation wants to organise similar initiatives

in the coming years. The Organisation will continued with its initiatives for specialized service

oriented programmes like Blood Donation Camps, AIDS, Eye Camps and training on health

services to the School Children etc.

2. Women Empowerment: To improve the present state of the women in its operational areas, United Friends wants to

continue its efforts for organizing skills up-gradation training and vocational training

programmes both in short and long terms basis to generate a regular kind of income among the

women through NYK, NSDC. TRLM and NRLM.

United Friends will also decide to expand its experiences of organizing women in to Self -Help-

Groups (SHGs) to cover larger areas of the Dhalai District. The Organisation will also put its

efforts towards selection of trades and organising necessary credits along with marketing of

finished products of the women groups to get reasonable returns for their labour and to

management their production units more effectively.

3. Livelihood Development: The Organisation has also interested to introduce various target oriented training and promotional

activities for the promotion of handicrafts and other related activities among the needy and

interested persons having preference for women. The Organisation has also decided to take up

long-term planned approaches for the development of sustainable livelihoods. In this regard, the

Organisation has already started approaching to Rashtriya Gramin Vikas Nidhi (RGVN), North

Eastern Development and Finance Corporation Ltd, Small Industries Development Bank of India

(SIDBI) and National Bank for Agriculture, Rural Development (NABARD) and Tripura

Bamboo Mission Board, Commission for Women, Tripura State Pollution Control Board &

TRLM & NEAC.

4. People Mobilization:

However, it also developing its strategy to start with specific village’s development programmes

after confirmation through necessary surveys and other assessments. These initiatives will help

to know the actual needs of the targeted population and later to start awareness for income-

generation activities for economic rehabilitation on sustainable manner.

Besides Organisation is also interested to accommodate any new development initiatives.
