33RD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME NOVEMBER 18 2018
ST ANGELA MERICI CORPUS CHRISTI ST PATRICK ST ROBERT BELLARMINE
From Father Terry As we approach the end of the Church Year which concludes next Sunday with Christ the King we are given readings reminding us that
the end of the world is on its way (Mk 1324-32) Jesusrsquo return in all his glory at the end of time is known as the Second Coming Jesus will come in his magnificence to establish the Kingdom of God in its fullness which will last for eternity Coinciding with Jesusrsquo return will be the Last or Final Judgment All the people throughout time will stand before the judgement seat of Christ The good will reign with God and the bad will be cast off to eternal damnation As we hear of end time prophecies we must ask ourselves ldquoHow READY am Irdquo Am I pre-pared for my own death and for the Second Coming which one will come first only God knows The point is are we ready Please do not allow the Devil to lull you to sleep He is awfully good at that Jesus wants us to live with a great sense of urgency
One of the ways we can ready ourselves is found in the Gospel Jesus says ldquoHeaven and earth will pass away but my words will not pass awayrdquo (31) It is so im-portant to live by the Gospel Jesusrsquo words May we be on a mission to fill ourselves up with the Bible and the teachings of the Church and make them a reality each day of our lives In light of Jesusrsquo words today may we not sleep walk through life but ready our hearts for his coming in glory
This Thursday November 22 is Thanksgiving Day It is
on this day that we give thanks to God for all the gifts
that he has given us It is very insightful that the word
Eucharist means ldquothanksgivingrdquo At the Lordrsquos Supper Jesus himself gave thanks to God in celebrating the First
Eucharist Further ldquoThe Eucharist is a sacrifice of
thanksgiving to the Father a blessing by which the
Church expresses her gratitude to God for all of his ben-
efits for all he has accomplished through creation re-
demption and sanctificationrdquo (Catechism of the Catho-
lic Church 1360) That is at every Mass we thank God the Father for all that he has done for us especially for
the new life won for us through his Son Jesus God defi-
nitely wants us to have thankful spirits It is a wonderful idea to go through a litany of things that we are thankful
for each day The more we give thanks the more we
will understand and rejoice in all of Godrsquos blessings
This is also a great strategy if we are feeling sorry for ourselves Let us also remember to give thanks to others
for all that they do for us What are you thankful for
One of the things that I am so thankful for is to be here
with all of you In light of the connection of thanksgiv-ing with the Mass all are welcome to one of our
Thanksgiving Day Masses A schedule is in the bulletin
Blessed Thanksgiving to all
Thanksgiving Prayer
This Thanksgiving let us remember all the good things and people who have come into our lives We focus on thanking each one who has helped us and ultimately thank God for the good gifts of this world
Let us pray God our Father Graciously accept from your humble people a thankful heart and spirit Everything we have and are able to share with others ultimately comes from your love of your creations Often we think that everything we have is our own creation we ask you this day to create in us a spirit of gratitude that we may always know that all good gifts come from you We ask this through Christ our brother in the power of the Holy Spirit Amen

33RD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME NOVEMBER 18 2018
Childrenrsquos Corner RECOGNIZE GOD IN YOUR
ORDINARY MOMENTS
The ancient Greek dramatist Euripides wrote No one can confidently say that he will still be living tomorrow We seldom focus on that reality and often act like we are confident of a tomorrow How-ever we all know names of those who died sudden-ly maybe in tragedy or simply in the quiet of sleep Calling those names to mind will probably still not force most of us to contemplate our own mortality tonight before placing our head on the pillow but perhaps it should
We dont need to obsess about dying or fear the un-known but realizing the gift of today and reflecting on the possibility that it may be our last day can cause us to act differently We might forgive more easily argue less and embrace one another Rather than procrastinate we might act now We could be-come more mindful of our surroundings see the needs in people and reach out to those who are lost
I write these Everyday Stewardship reflections eve-ry Sunday You might read them in your parish bul-letin on a website or in social media every Sunday Just in case this is the last Sunday you ever have a chance to read these reflections what is God calling you to do now before its too late If you are still here next Sunday after taking all this seriously you might wonder at what it was to live more fully and to give of yourself more freely Dont let a single day pass you by without truly loving others and your God One thing you can be confident about This day will never come again
--Tracy Earl Welliver MTS Family PERSPECTIVE Todayrsquos gospel teaches us Uncertainty is normal There are some things in life which ldquono one knowsonly the Fatherrdquo Marriage and parenting are full of uncertainty for like the fig tree in the gospel the people we love grow and change
Marriage MOMENTS With Thanksgiving coming up review whose job it is to cook to decorate to entertain guests Re-member the Martha and Mary story (Luke 1041) Want to try anything different this year
Parenting POINTERS Where there is forgiveness (Hebrews 2018) Where indeed is there forgiveness today Is there anyone you or your child need to forgive to make peace in the family or with your neighbor (or your enemy) before the season of peace can begin
INSPIRATION FOR THE WEEK But of that day or hour no one knows neither the angels in heaven nor the Son but only the Father None of us knows when the world will end All we know is that it will end All things do Many people choose to live a somewhat carefree life by living as if life will never end They go from one day to the next never giving a thought to the fact that today may be their last If you knew exactly when your life will end what would you do differently As
Christians we are called to be people of beginnings and endings God is in all of life even when we
think that life cannot get any worse than it is Creat-ing life out of death is what God does best We are
asked to live vigilantly seeing God in all things and being ever prepared to meet him whenever that
time comes

INSPIRATION FOR THE WEEK But of that day or hour no one knows neither the angels in heaven nor the Son but only the Father None of us knows when the world will end All we know is that it will end All things do Many people choose to live a somewhat carefree life by living as if life will never end They go from one day to the next never giving a thought to the fact that today may be their last If you knew exactly when your life will end what would you do differently As
Christians we are called to be people of beginnings and endings God is in all of life even when we
think that life cannot get any worse than it is Creat-ing life out of death is what God does best We are
asked to live vigilantly seeing God in all things and being ever prepared to meet him whenever that
time comes

Eucharist means ldquothanksgivingrdquo At the Lordrsquos Supper Jesus himself gave thanks to God in celebrating the First
Eucharist Further ldquoThe Eucharist is a sacrifice of
thanksgiving to the Father a blessing by which the
Church expresses her gratitude to God for all of his ben-
efits for all he has accomplished through creation re-

the new life won for us through his Son Jesus God defi-
nitely wants us to have thankful spirits It is a wonderful idea to go through a litany of things that we are thankful
for each day The more we give thanks the more we
will understand and rejoice in all of Godrsquos blessings
This is also a great strategy if we are feeling sorry for ourselves Let us also remember to give thanks to others
for all that they do for us What are you thankful for

INSPIRATION FOR THE WEEK But of that day or hour no one knows neither the angels in heaven nor the Son but only the Father None of us knows when the world will end All we know is that it will end All things do Many people choose to live a somewhat carefree life by living as if life will never end They go from one day to the next never giving a thought to the fact that today may be their last If you knew exactly when your life will end what would you do differently As
Christians we are called to be people of beginnings and endings God is in all of life even when we
think that life cannot get any worse than it is Creat-ing life out of death is what God does best We are
asked to live vigilantly seeing God in all things and being ever prepared to meet him whenever that
time comes

INSPIRATION FOR THE WEEK But of that day or hour no one knows neither the angels in heaven nor the Son but only the Father None of us knows when the world will end All we know is that it will end All things do Many people choose to live a somewhat carefree life by living as if life will never end They go from one day to the next never giving a thought to the fact that today may be their last If you knew exactly when your life will end what would you do differently As
Christians we are called to be people of beginnings and endings God is in all of life even when we
think that life cannot get any worse than it is Creat-ing life out of death is what God does best We are
asked to live vigilantly seeing God in all things and being ever prepared to meet him whenever that
time comes
