Hosted By: Bishop Frank A. Rush Houston Worship and Praise Center
U.N.I.T.Y. COALITION PARTNERS 2011
THE 1ST QUARTER OF CHANGE U.N.I.T.Y. RALLY UNITING CHANGE IN THE COMMUNITY
On April 23, 2011 We will set a precedent for change in our community by
hosting The 1st Quarter of Change U.N.I.T.Y. Rally presented by a coalition
of community organizations: Toiletries for Families, Andrea’s Hope, Our
Children Our future, Salvation After H.I.V., Mothers Aiming 4 Success, and
Discover Your Umbrella all in conjunction with Host, Bishop Frank A. Rush,
Houston Praise and Worship Church. We are uniting with the sole mission
of invoking change in the community to combat the urban challenges that
are not only endured by Houston residents but are worldwide rampant
adversities endured by billions. The U.N.I.T.Y. rally is a coalition of
community organizations that advocate change. The word, unity is
utilized as a noun, verb, and acronym.
The acronym U.N.I.T.Y. is synonymous with Uplifting Nonprofits In The
communitY. UNITY defined in the verb sense symbolizes each
organizations mission to present, inform, and inspire our community
regarding the services & programs offered from the coalition of
organizations. The noun sense of the word UNITY is to essentially unify the
community by presenting The 1st Quarter of Change U.N.I.T.Y. Rally by
utilizing an informative and entertaining platform.
On April 23, 2011 12:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M The 1st Quarter of Change
U.N.I.T.Y. Rally expects to unite 5000 patrons at 3802 Live Oak Houston,
TX 77004. Although the cost to attend The 1st Quarter of Change U.N.I.T.Y.
Rally is free and open to the public, it however is not free to implement
and execute. The execution of planning to feed a magnitude of 5000
people has increased the additional cost associated with feeding the
multitude of patrons. Our cost include multiple food permits, including
proper sterilization policy and procedure requirements; which are
administered by the city of Houston for the safety of patrons. Additionally
we have inherited cost of sound, permits, security, and other fundamental
factors that are associated with the implementation of an outside event
that we must finance to ensure that we are in compliance with our city
codes and procedures. This has led The 1st Quarter of Change U.N.I.T.Y.
Rally Coalition Partners to seek additional financial tax deductible
charitable gifts with the objective of aiding in our efforts to unite the
community. We sincerely and respectfully request your attendance and
sponsorship of this event as it will aid us in impacting the community
generationally!

TOILETRIES FOR FAMILIES
Tiffany Scales is inspiring, innovative, idealist. She has been
instrumental and orchestrating The 1st Quarter of Change
U.N.I.T.Y. Rally. Ms. Scales is the founder of the nonprofit
organization Toiletries for Families and her Mission is to eliminate
the various urban socio-economic challenges amongst youth and
elders, among them are addressing poor hygiene caused by the lack
of grooming and hygienic products. She serves individuals and
families in need of the basic necessities, by providing them with
basic and chief grooming and hygienic necessities.
A Note from the Founder
“I guess you could say I had an epiphany. While one person has the
ability to help a handful, a handful of people can help a multitude!
“It is your job to give…what they do with it is between them &
HIM.” -Se7en quoted his college professor; he said it was one
statement that really stuck with him. –Tiffany Scales
Ms. Scales has collaborated with other non profits to provide Toiletries
for Families
She’s been an essential force in orchestrating 1st
Quarter of Change
U.N.I.T.Y. RALLY
She is currently working on a project to send Toiletries for the distressed
families in Japan.
Meet THE 1ST QUARTER OF CHANGE U.N.I.T.Y. COALITION PARTNERS
Andrea’s Hope
Andrea Everline established Andrea’s Hope in September of
2009; she has been instrumental in orchestrating The 1st
Quarter of Change U.N.I.T.Y. Rally. Andrea’s Hope is a
nonprofit organization created by Andrea Everline & college
friends organized to suppress hunger in the Houston
Community. Andrea’s Hope gathers every third Saturday of
the month to contribute to the cause of eradicating hunger.
Andrea’s Hope has enjoyed the pleasure of serving and
administering food to thousands of patrons over the last two
years. Their organization is grateful to their supporters and
volunteer, which their youngest volunteer has been three years
of age.
Andrea recognizes that the sentiment, man cannot survive on
bread alone as factual and seeks to not only replenish their
stomachs but their inner souls by utilizing food as an
icebreaker she is able to build lasting fellowships with those
whom she serves.
On April 7,2011 Andrea embarked upon on a five day journey
to live the life of a homeless person, so that she could not only
have an in-depth experience and personal perception of life on
the streets of those she serves, but to raise awareness for
homelessness, hunger, and child runaways. Andrea chronicled
her five day journey: “Life on the Streets” utilizing various
social media outlets, recordings, and personal reflections.
There are various elements to the homelessness epidemic that
Andrea wants to bring awareness to, when asked to share one,
this was her innate response, “We are all homeless. The
homes and shelters that we live in are temporary, so serve as
you should while you are here”

Our Children Our Future is a nonprofit organization founded by
the youngest U.N.I.T.Y. Coalition partner, Larry Bertrand. As a
1st Quarter of Change U.N.I.T.Y. Rally coalition partner, he has
been instrumental and orchestrating the event.
Larry was prompted to developing the organization after the
senseless brutal beating of his cousin by fellow students that
made national headlines.
Our Children Our Future is an organization designed for the
youths of today’s' society. OCOF is creating programs and
events geared to reach out to our youths. We recognize the
growing incidents of violence and are working diligently to make
a change. The mission at Our Children Our Future is educating,
inspiring, cultivating, and humanizing our children of today,
saving our future one child at a time.
A Note from the Founder:
Watching the news on a daily basis we see too many of our
children losing their lives due to senseless violence. OCOF is
reaching out to the inner city communities and working with the
children in these areas to mentor, teach and uplift. We strive to
save and encourage as many children as we can.
It's often said that "it takes a village to raise a child." OCOF is a
village which will equip children with the tools necessary to
enjoy life and realize that successful, prosperous futures are
their realities.
Larry quotes Chuck D. in saying, “The Cheapest Price One
Could Pay is Attention”

Mothers Aiming 4 Success stands firm on the belief that having a
solid foundation is fundamental in aiming towards a life of
success, moreover MAS advocates that education is instrumental
to the pursuit of success. MAS was birthed out of Monica’s
discerenment of a pattern that involved the nonexistence of: a
solid foundation, family support, supportive programs for
nontraditional students and workers, and unmet needs for
mothers like her; with that inclination Mothers Aiming 4 Success
(MAS) was born.
