Universal Credit recipientsUnemployment in Scotland fell by 2,000, to 176,000 in the period April to June 2014, according to the Office for National Statistics.
Scottish Secretary Alistair Carmichael said:
“It is also good to see the number of people claiming Jobseekers allowance continues to fall. It is now at its lowest level since October 2008 and is 35,500 lower than one year ago.”

Between 5-8% of families in Scotland (604,000) receive child and working tax credits.
