NeedlesNeedlesorothersharpsshouldnotbebent,recapped,ormovedexceptasnotedbelow:
• Needlesmayberecappedonlybyusingamechanicaldevice.• Needlesshouldbemovedonlybyusingamechanicaldeviceortoolsuchasforceps,
pliers,orbroomanddustpan.• Neverbreakorshareneedles.• Needlesshallbedisposedofinlabeledsharpscontainersonly.• Sharpscontainersshallbeclosable,puncture-resistant,leak-proofonsidesandbottom,
andmustbelabeledorcolor-coded.• Whensharpscontainersarebeingmovedfromtheareaofuse,thecontainersshouldbe
closedimmediatelybeforeremovalorreplacementtopreventspillageorprotrusionofcontentsduringhandlingortransport.
