Course overviewWe are delighted to be offering a minimally invasive surgery mini-fellowship for postgraduate urologic surgeons who are interested in introducing into theirpractice or academic department cutting-edge technology for renal tumor management. This program is offered three times annually, and participantswill work closely with an assigned preceptor and dedicated instructors on theUC Irvine faculty in didactic and hands-on laboratory sessions, along with operating room observation of surgical procedures. The course is held fromSaturday to mid-day Tuesday, affording urologists an optimized experience with maximal skills and knowledge transfer with minimal loss of active time.Registrants are responsible to pay course tuition and travel expenses, mealsand hotel costs. The program is hosted at the new and beautiful UC IrvineMedical Center, Orange, Calif.
Optimized experience with maximal skills and knowledge transferThis unique program is entirely devoted to the transfer of advanced technicalskills. This module includes didactic sessions and hands-on laboratory surgicaltraining with animate laparoscopic and da Vinci robotic procedures; standard-ized patient ultrasound training; and cadaveric CT-guided ablation training. There will be a day-and-a-half of live surgical case observation that includeslaparoscopic and da Vinci robotic partial nephrectomy, laparoscopic and percutaneous cryoablation, laparoscopic nephrectomy, laparoscopic nephro-ureterectomy, and endoscopic biopsy and ablation of upper tract transitionalcell carcinoma (depending on patient availability). Each attendee will berequested to complete a multiple-choice examination.Copyright © 2013 The Regents of the University of California. All rights reserved.
