GENERAL INFORMATION

UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII. The University of Hawaii is a federal land­grant and state university. It has colleges of Arts and Sciences, BusinessAdministration, Education, Engineering, General Studies, Health Sciencesand Social Welfare (including schools of Medicine, Nursing, Public Healthand Social Work), and Tropical Agriculture, a Graduate Division, a Schoolof Library Studies, and a System of Community Colleges. It offers themaster's degree in 63 fields and the doctorate in 27.

ADMISSION. Students who fit anyone of the following categories need notapply for admission to the summer session ahead of time, but will be re­quired to complete the summer Application for Admission Form duringregistration:

1. Graduate of an accredited college or university.

2. Student currently in good standing at an accredited college or uni­versity.

3. Student who was in good standing at the last accredited college oruniversity attended.

4. Student who was placed on scholastic suspension or was dismissedafter the spring semester of 1969 from the University of Hawaii.

5. Student on scholastic probation, but eligible for continued registra­tion at an accredited college or university.

6. Student who has never attended college or university before, but whohas been accepted for admission at an accredited college or university.

Applicants who do not fit any of the categories listed above will be requiredto submit official transcripts along with Admission Form 15 in advance tothe Office of Admissions and Records, 125 Bachman Hall, 2444 Dole Street,University of Hawaii, Honolulu, Hawaii 96822, to fulfill admissions require­ments. Admission Form 15 may be obtained by writing to the Office ofAdmissions and Records.

TUITION AND FEES. The tuition is $16 per (semester) credit hour. Anactivity fee of $2.50 is charged every student in the first six-week term. Nolaboratory or other course fees except for applied music, institutes, andother special programs. All fees are payable at registration time. No moneyshould be sent in advance. No extra charges are made for out-of-statestudents.

STUDENT HOUSING. Residence hall accommodations will be availableto summer session students for the first term only. Inquiries should besent to: Director of Student Housing, Johnson Hall A, University of Hawaii,Honolulu, Hawaii 96822. It should be noted that admission to the Univer­sity is made without reference to the availability of housing. Althoughinformation On off-campus accommodations is not mailed out, studentsupon arrival in Honolulu are invited to come to the Student Housing officeto obtain information on off-campus housing. Negotiations with landlordsfor such accommodations must be made by the student.

CHANGES. The University reserves the right to make changes in cur­riculum and fees.
