Professor John M. Bennett, AD, BE, BSc, PhD, FTS will deliver the Occasional AddllJss.

Professor 8ennett entered the computer field in the UK in 1947. He is now Professor of Computer Science at the University of Sydney, a Chair to which he was appointed in 1961.

In 1966, he was foundation President of the Australian Computer Society (A CS). and is an Honorary Life Member of that Society.

He was Vice.prflSident of the Intemational F8deration for Information Processing (lFIP) (1975·78). In 1981. he was elected a Govemor of the International Council for Computer CommuniCdtions (ICCC). of which he is now the Deputy Secretary· G8fleral.
