BASIC INFORMATION

The origin of the today’s University of Zilina goes back to 1 October 1953 in Prague.

It was established under the name of University of Railway Engineering in Prague.

In 1959 the institution changed its name to the University of Transport and moved to Zilina.

As a result of the increasing role of communications, the academic institutions amended its name to the University of Transport and Communications.

Since 1989 the University has experienced various organizational, transformational and structural changes.

Fire-Chemical Laboratory enables: to test the reactions of products against

fire, to simulate possible leakage of dangerous

substances (e.g. oil products) and possible liquidation (e.g. by sorbents),

the determination of selected physical-chemical properties of respective fire-technical parameters of flammable substances in liquid and solid statuses,

to study heat effects of inorganic and organic substances, light effects of processes of burning of selected inorganic and organic substances, processes of self ignition of chemical substances.
