LENGTH AND COURSES OF THE MUSIC PROGRAM

UBC’s music degree program has an average four year period much like other bachelor's degree programs. The length of the programs is subject to change depending on the student commitment to the completion of courses and credits.

The choice of music courses at UBC are varied determined by the degree options such as liberal, major, honor's, etc. and personal interest. Exemplary courses for this specified program would be:

• MUSC 319 – Introduction to Electroacoustic Music• MUSC 352 – History of Medieval Music• MUSC 415 – Imagining Musical Performances

Other Opportunities:• Student loansThis is much like a bank loan with the difference of government support on interest rates and repayable after program studies completion, having at least 60% of full-time courses.• BursariesWith the different types of General and AffiliationBursaries, they are “non-repayable awards” for students with financial need and lack of government support. The latter Bursary related to company or club related students with deadlines September 15 and May 31.

WHY MUSIC AT

UBC?

• Career Outcomes: According to WorkBC, the BA Music course gives the training to become Conductors, composers and arrangers, managers, musicians and singers and other professional occupations in therapy and assessment which are interesting options for me to decide between my personal love of music performance or teaching.

• UBC Music Features: One of the greatest concert halls and music studios.

• Passion for Music: I’ve always loved music and performing. I’ve been singing since I’ve been 3, played Piano for some time, currently playing the Setar and learning the French Horn. I want to use my music to inspire people and touch their lives.
