CREATING A LEARNING ENVIRONMENT:
HMYOI POLMONT AND EDUCATION SCOTLAND
WORKING IN PARTNERSHIP
Education Scotland is providing support, advice and guidance on curriculum development for the
Learning Environment in keeping with the senior phase of Curriculum for Excellence. Early joint work
with a range of partners on-site to map available learning opportunities and identify curriculum
gaps has helped inform the development of new activities within Polmont, and in consequence, the
publication of this very first prospectus for young people and staff.
As the Learning Environment develops, SPS and Education Scotland will work together to embed
programme and curriculum planning, further link learning opportunities, develop progression
pathways, and highlight to young people and staff the breadth of learning activities on offer. This
includes informal and formal youth and adult learning, and vocational learning for young people in
HMYOI Polmont.
As we go forward HMYOI Polmont and Education Scotland will continue to support the development
of the Learning Environment, placing particular emphasis on staff development and extending already
effective links with external agencies and wider government, to enhance the HMYOI Polmont
Learning Offer.
