WHY
Most Quran classes focus on teaching students how to read the Quran properly (tajweed) and
memorization from a very early age. Unless it is coupled with extra practice and constant repetition for
students to retain memorization, the students do not go beyond forming a short-term memory, the active
process of storing and retaining information for a limited period. And if there is limited time, funding,
and opportunities for teachers to sit with students who need extra practice those students get left out.
Also, English is the first language for many youths & young adults in the United States. Hence
understanding the meaning of Quranic Arabic words in a language they already know (a.k.a translations)
would enable them to retain information longer. This is because it is easier to remember subjects they
already know since the information has more meaning and can be mentally connected to other
information to form stronger neural connections – long term memory. What could improve their long
term memory is listening to the pronunciations repeatedly, recognizing the words in a language
they already know, and connecting the vocabulary & their meanings. This can create a stronger
foundation, so students know how to apply the Quran’s lessons in their day-to-day lives as they get
older.
UnseenpathsDeen’s Juz Amma Project: Going beyond memorization is an entirely online practice-based
sets that uses gamification to make it easier and more fun to learn each word, verse (ayah), and
chapter (surah) within the last 37 surahs of the Quran. We aim to simplify the process of learning by
collecting pages (such as from the Quran and famous tafsir books) and using technology to present it in
an easy and engaging way.
HOW
Students today are addicted to Phones, Games, Snapchat, Instagram, and other websites starting from an
early age. A 2015 Pew Research report found that 73% of 13 to 17-year-olds had their own

smartphones or had access to one, and 24% said they were online “almost constantly.” The internet
can distract them from the learning process, but schools & teachers can also use their disposition to
spend time online for a good purpose: Making learning enjoyable and interactive.
UnseenpathsDeen’s Juz Amma Project: Going beyond memorization uses educational technology
(gamification) to facilitate students’ learning and boost their capacity, productivity, and performance.
Each word and line within the last 37 chapters of the Quran are broken down into easy to learn practice
sets using Quizlet and on website quizzes.
Quizlet is a mobile and web-based study application that allows students to study information via
learning tools and games. Using Quizlet’s premium service (Quizlet Teacher), we have created more
engaging content, customized Arabic audio, and ad-free experience. This allows students can play to
learn Quranic vocabulary at anytime and anywhere as this will help them form long-term memory and
mastery. That includes 1600 words, 564 verses, 100+ practice sets total. It:
1. Makes teaching & learning easier – Using educational platforms like Quizlet.com, teachers can
present tough concepts that makes the topic clear for each student in the class by using audio-
visual content. Teachers can also use projectors and computer presentations to deliver any type
of lesson to improve the level of comprehension within the class.
2. Helps teachers track students’ progress – Teachers can create accounts for students and keep
track of the individual and class achievements and assignments.
3. Students and teachers can access information at any time – With most households owning a
laptop and cell phones, students can easily access educational Apps and Sources. They can learn
on their own time to gain better and deeper understanding.
INTENDED FOR:
• Students who are memorizing the Quran and would like supplementary practice
• Anyone who has a hard time with traditional class with lectures and final exams
• Working adults who do not have time or money to enroll in Quran or Arabic grammar programs
• Converts/reverts and born-Muslims who are beginning to memorize the Quran

We have a four-step solution to increase recognition & understanding of the Quran: word by word, line
by line, fill in the blank, and tafsir comprehension.
WORD BY WORD & LINE BY LINE (POWERED BY QUIZLET)
• Flashcard - Users are shown a digital flashcard for each Arabic word within the surah alongside
its closest English translation. They can click to flip over the card or use their arrow keys to see
the definition. This includes audio for each term. And an opportunity for students to highlight
difficult words to study later.
• Learn - Users are given multiple choice
questions. Quizlet’s intuitive software
repeats incorrectly answered questions
more frequently and a dashboard shows
the student’s learning progress over
time. This uses spaced repetition
concepts to focus on longer-term
retention and subject mastery versus
shorter-term memorization.
• Match - Users are given a grid of terms & their definitions. The purpose is to try and clear the
grid in the fastest time possible. The faster a student becomes in clearing the grid, the faster they
become in recognizing each Arabic script & its definition.

In order to help students, master
recognition of these words and verses,
without help from a translation, a
practice Quiz blocking out certain words
has been created. This helps students go
beyond memorization by learning to
recognition the order of each word and
understanding how it fits together.
TAFSIR READING COMPREHENSION (NOT AVALIBLE YET)
In order to familiarize students with multiple scholarly interpretations, we have references books to help
interested students identify the context, references, and perspectives of each Surah. These Quran tafsirs
(E-books) are freely available on the internet but it has been coded to link directly to each surah,

LIVE CLASSROOM GAMES
We are able to use Quizlet Live, an engaging in-class game where students work in teams to correctly
match terms and definitions, to increase comprehension, communication, and teamwork. Watch example

test student’s ability to recognize & recall words and

Tafsir comprehension practice lessons can also be
created to test if students understand the context and
deeper meanings of a surah they are memorizing to

How Quran Programs & Islamic Schools Can Use this
UnseenpathsDeen’s Juz Amma Project: Going beyond memorization does the hard work for schools and
educators. We take care of creating accounts, inputting over 1000 texts/scripts, record Arabic audio for
each word and line, doing quality check, and helping/training teachers with technical integration. Here
are several ways to use this.
1. One or few accounts (Quizlet) - Everyone can use these accounts, created for the school, to
practice. If the school has a computer lab, each student can use the same log in to practice while
the teacher proctors.
2. Individual account per student (Quizlet): Ideal for progress tracking – Students 13 and
under can have an account connected to a parent/guardian. While students 13 and above can
create an account on their own. A virtual classroom will be created so students can join, and their
progress can be monitored by a teacher/admin. This teacher/admin is able to add and remove sets
and students from classes, as well as edit a class's title, description and school. Students can
practice at any time & anywhere. This requires a small annual fee to Quizlet to see the students’
