UNVEILING OF REFURBISHED THRAPSTON BRANCH... COMING SOON! We’re thrilled to announce that the refurbishment of our Thrapston branch is almost complete. Following extensive building work we now have two brand new consulting rooms, better access and facilities for our disabled patients, as well as a much larger dispensing area so that our fantastic range of frames can be displayed at their best! To thank all of our patients who have put up with the disruption, noise and general chaos over the last few months, we’ll be holding a special open day on November 12th so that you can come and enjoy a glass of bubbly with us. And to celebrate the new and improved branch, we’ll be running some special offers on sunglasses and presenting patients with vouchers, so put the date in your diaries. To read more about the branch expansion, visit our website. September 2015 SAY GOODBYE TO READING GLASSES AND HELLO TO MULTIFOCAL CONTACT LENSES Prescription lenses help those who are short sighted, long sighted, or simply struggling to read. However, taking glasses on and off to correct our vision in different situations isn’t always convenient. Now, multifocal contact lenses adjust your vision automatically and can provide a far more practical alternative, for a more active lifestyle. At Davis Optometrists, we’re recommending Acuvue’s new multifocal daily lens. With a range of 183 power profiles to suit all patients, we believe these are an excellent solution for ensuring clear vision, all day long, whatever you’re looking at. So if you’re tired of carrying around your specs, whether you’re wearing them for everyday or simply just for reading, our specialist team can help you find the right contact lenses. Call us free on 0808 281 0184 to talk to one of our team and book in for a simple trial, and find more information by visiting our website.

NATIONAL EYE HEALTH AWARENESS WEEK: 21-27 SEPTEMBER

1.8 million people living in the UK are living with sight loss. For 53% of these, a simple sight test and new spectacles could really help.*The National Eye Health Week returns this September to remind us that vision really matters. From the 21st to the 27th September, charities, organisations and professionals are joining together to raise awareness. As part of the campaign we’ll be displaying posters and talking to us many visitors as we can about the (often forgotten!) benefits of regular eye checks.Eye health is a topic that is very close to our hearts and we love raising awareness so much that we even hold our own annual Eye Health Awareness Week in the Northamptonshire area, where we invite local schools, GPs and health visitors to get involved.*Source: Vision Matters at www.visionmatters.org.uk

VISION THERAPY AT DAVIS OPTOMETRISTS: A SPORTING OFFERThe Rugby World Cup has kicked off and of course we’re all staring at our TV screens (with appropriate glasses on!) But have you ever considered how your eyes fair on the field? We offer a range of diagnostic tests, specific techniques and therapies that have been specifically created to enhance the performance of sportspeople. The assessments include evaluating catching ability, spatial awareness and reaction speeds, all of which allow us to build up a report that includes your prescription and recommendations for therapy. The techniques and therapies can be used by any sportsperson at any level; the rugby players

on Clive Woodward’s winning World Cup team all had vision therapy to speed up their reactions! So whether you’re a golf pro or a cricketing novice, we can help you sharpen your game.If you think that vision therapy might improve your performance on the field, or if you’d like us to visit your club and screen the whole team, please contact our Sports Vision practitioner Roz Giles on 01536 512792. You can also find more information on our website.

MIGRAINE AWARENESS WEEK: 6-12 SEPTEMBERMigraine Awarness Week ran from 6th to the 12th September and we spoke to many patients about keeping visual stress at bay. Migraines are complex, neurologial disorders with no known cause or cure. However, we know from our experience that healthy eyesight will give you a better chance of avoiding them.Visual stress can occur in a number of situations where you’re concentrating your vision, such as looking at a computer screen, reading, or driving at night. Wearing the right prescription lenses can help to reduce this stress and in doing so reduce your risk of having headaches and migraines.By looking at colour properties and muscle strength within the eye, we can gather useful information about what prescription is needed to help you see clearly and without strain.Feel free to chat to us in branch, and visit our website if you’d like more information about corporate eye care and the packages we offer.
