1 OBJECTIVES AND REQUIREMENTS

1.1 Objectives

This guide provides step-by-step instructions to install the new UOB Offline Data Input Software (ODIS) in the PC as well as how to use the programme.

1.2 Requirements

This software is provided by the Bank and can be installed in any personal computers with the following configurations and requirements:

Windows based PC (preferable P4 and above)

Win Vista, Win 7 and Win 8.

Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 7.0 (32-bit)

A common web browser such as Internet Explorer 5.0 and above, Chrome or Firefox. This browser is required to view ODIS Quick Help files, Validation Report and Print Summary Report.

Minimum disk space of 100MB for ODIS and JRE installation

Best viewed at a screen resolution of 1024 X 768

Will run best on computers with at least 512MB of RAM.

Remove any older version of ODIS before the new software can be installed.

2 GETTING STARTED

2.1 Install ODIS

Please perform the following steps:

1) Insert the installation CD to your CD-ROM.

2) Open up Windows Explorer.

3) Locate CD-ROM drive (e.g. D:\, E:\ or F:\)

4) Find a file named “UOB_ODIS_2.msi”

5) Highlight the file and double-click on it. You will then see the ODIS Setup screen as shown below:

6) Read and accept the Terms & Conditions before clicking Next button to continue:

7) Select a programme folder for ODIS and click Next button to continue.

For Win Vista operating system users It is advisable to install ODIS in a different location (i.e. not in C:\Program Files) when running the ODIS installer due to Win Vista security feature.

8) Click Install button to begin ODIS installation:

9) Once installation is successful, click Finish button to complete ODIS installation:

2.2 Login to ODIS

ODIS only supports a single user per machine. It is important that you safeguard your machine against any illegal intrusion.

2.2.1 First Time Login Setup

1) After ODIS is successfully installed, a short-cut icon will appear on your computer’s desktop. Double-click on this icon to launch ODIS. The first time login screen will be displayed:

2) Default Country Select the Default Country, Singapore, from the drop-down list. This will determine the ODIS modules and settings to be used later.

3) DB Location Enter the intended storage location of ODIS database file or select a folder using the finder by clicking on the icon.

Note: For security reasons, it is recommended that you store your database to

an external storage device (e.g. Thumb drive with password protection).

4) Click on the OK button to continue, and the ODIS Terms & Conditions screen will be

displayed:

5) Tick to agree on the Terms of Use and click Ok to login to ODIS.

6) ODIS Main Menu screen will be displayed.

2.2.2 Subsequent Login

1) After the successful first time setup, double-click on the short-cut icon on your computer desktop to launch ODIS. The ODIS login screen will be displayed:

2) DB Location If necessary, change the storage location of ODIS database file or select a folder using the finder by clicking on the icon. The database location will then be updated accordingly.

Note: For security reasons, it is recommended that you store your database to

an external storage device (e.g. Thumb drive with password protection).

3) Click OK button to continue and ODIS Terms & Conditions screen will be displayed:

4) Tick to agree on the Terms of Use and click Ok to login to ODIS.

5) ODIS Main Menu screen will be displayed.

2.3 ODIS Main Menu

1) Upon the successful login, the ODIS Main Menu screen will be displayed:

2) About ODIS

The default country, ODIS and its Master Data Version No. are displayed at the header section of the screen. To find out more about ODIS, from the top menu bar, click Help->About ODIS. The following screen will be displayed:

3) Module Navigation To access to the desired module, click on the respective button. For e.g., under Payroll, click Inter-Bank GIRO to go to Payroll management. Alternatively, you can access each module from the Top Menu Bar.

4) Logout ODIS

From the header section, click Logout to quit ODIS. Alternatively, click File->Logout, from top menu bar to logout ODIS. A confirmation dialog screen will be displayed:

Figure 2-12 Logout Confirmation screen Click Yes (backup working database to a file destination before closing), No (close immediately) or Cancel (return to ODIS).

Note:

It is recommended to make a backup of current working database

regularly to an external device like thumb drive and external hard drive.

The backup database can be restored back to ODIS during data

recovery.

5) Quick Help

To access ODIS Quick help, from the top menu bar, click Help->Quick Help. Your web browser such as Internet Explorer will pop up to display ODIS Quick Help Main Menu page:
