Game 42 | Home Game 20 (13-6) | Night Game 31 (16-14)
TV: SportsNet LA, SNLA Spanish | Radio: AM 570 (Eng.); 1020 AM (Span.)
CATCH OF THE DAY: The Dodgers are back in L.A. to begin a
10-game homestand with the first of four games against the Miami
Marlins, following a 3-4 road trip to Colorado and San Francisco.
Los Angeles went 1-6 against the Marlins last season and were 0-4
at Dodger Stadium, following Miami’s four-game sweep at Chavez
Ravine last April. After an off day on Monday, the long homestand
will continue next week with a pair of three-game series against the
NL Central’s Cardinals and Cubs.
The Dodgers have lost five consecutive games to the
Marlins at Dodger Stadium, but still hold a 48-41 (.539)
record vs. the Fish at Chavez Ravine all-time.
BOUNCING BACK: Dodger left-hander Hyun-Jin Ryu battled
through the worst outing of his career last week in Denver, but today
gets a chance to beat the Marlins for the second time in his career.
Ryu’s two starts against Miami (4 ER/14.0 IP) both came in 2013,
including a victory at Dodger Stadium in which he allowed one run
and five hits in 6.2 innings (May 11, 2013).
According to STATS, LLC, Ryu’s numbers dramatically
increase after the first inning this year. From innings 2-6
this season, Ryu has posted a 3.65 ERA (10 ER/24.2 IP),
limiting hitters to a .253 average and putting up a 3.25
strikeout-to-walk ratio. In the first inning, those numbers
jump to 10.50/.407/1.17.
HE’S BACK!: Dodger first baseman Adrián González went 3-for-
4 with two doubles and two RBI in his second and final rehab game
for Single-A Rancho Cucamonga last night. After missing the last 12
games with elbow and back pain, González was reinstated this
afternoon and will be in the lineup tonight. To make room for
González, the club optioned outfielder/first baseman Scott Van
Slyke to Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Dodger infielder Logan Forsythe also played his second
rehab game at Single-A Rancho Cucamonga last night and
went 1-for-2 with a run scored and a walk as he makes his
way back from a broken toe and a strained hamstring.
Forsythe has been on the DL since April 19.
MAKING IT LOOK EASY: Dodger rookie Cody Bellinger went
2-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI in the club’s victory yesterday
and also remains tied with Yasiel Puig for the most homers on the
Dodgers with seven. Bellinger has posted a .316 (18-for-
57)/.381/.702 slashline with 15 runs, five doubles, a triple, five home
runs and 18 RBI in 15 games during the month of May. The Arizona
native leads the Majors in RBI during the month of May:
MLB Players – Most RBI in May 2017
Cody Bellinger, LAD 18
Aaron Altherr, PHI 16
Mookie Betts, BOS 16
Joey Votto, CIN 16
Since his promotion on April 25, Bellinger ranks among the
best in the NL in runs scored (18, T-4th), home runs (7, T-
1st), RBI (20, T-1st) and slugging percentage (.667, 8th).
Bellinger is the second-fastest Dodger to get to 20 RBI in
modern club history:

average on balls in play (.427) and line-drive percentage (37.3).
STARTING OFF RIGHT: Dodger starter Clayton Kershaw fired
7.0 scoreless innings yesterday, as the starting staff leads the
National League in victories (18) and WHIP (1.19) while ranking at
the top of the Senior Circuit in ERA (3.54, 2nd), strikeouts (233, 2nd),

league in strikeouts (158, T-2nd), strikeouts per nine innings
(10.83, 1st), strikeout-to-walk ratio (3.59, 1st) and fielding

leagues with a 3.35 ERA (135 ER/363.0 IP), a 1.18 WHIP
and a .669 opponents’ OPS while ranking second in the NL
in strikeouts (391).
THE BRIDGE: In addition to the usual brilliance of Kenley
Jansen, Dodger relievers Pedro Baéz and Josh Fields are pitching
lights out this season, with both ranking in the top-10 among NL
relievers in ERA. Fields’ 0.55 mark (1 ER/16.1 IP) ranks second
while Baéz’s 1.10 ERA (2 ER/16.1 IP) ranks ninth. Baéz has allowed
just seven hits on the season (7-for-55) and his .127 opponents’
batting average ranks fifth among NL relievers. Fields has fanned 21
batters and is averaging 11.57 strikeouts per nine innings, which
ranks second on the club and is tied for 16th among NL relievers.
Dodger relievers Fields, Jansen, Ross Stripling and Luis
Avilán have yet to allow a home run this season.
WELCOME BACK!: The Dodgers would like to welcome
Marlins’ catcher A.J. Ellis back to Los Angeles. Ellis was drafted by
the Dodgers in 2003 and played at Dodger Stadium from 2008-16.
HOME SWEET HOME: The Dodgers begin a 10-game homestand
this evening and the first 40,000 fans in attendance will receive a
Clayton Kershaw coin, commemorating his June 18, 2014 no-hitter
vs. Colorado. The coin, presented by 76, is the third in a season-long
series highlighting great Dodger moments.
Tonight is also “Japan Night” at Dodger Stadium, where
fans that purchase a special ticket receive a commemorative
Kenta Maeda t-shirt celebrating the culture of Japan. In
addition, pregame ceremonies will include a first pitch by
Japanese Olympic swimmer Kosuke Kitajima and a pre-
