    Jul 9Math ... Its an ArtStudents generate many creative projects to explore math concepts and build essential skills through art. Students learn about math concepts like geometry, measurement, and 2D and 3D shapes. This fun course teaches math in a way most kids have never experienced.

    CalArts Animation Playground See Inventive Media classes and descriptions on pg. 7.Participants enjoy hands-on learning in the Animation Playground! Students learn a new animation technique every day followed by play time to explore how each medium can be manipulated on the frame by frame level.     Fun and Fancy Dough SculpturesInexpensive white bread, and adhesive are molded into a soft dough that is easily molded into shapes. No hard-on-the-hands conditioning is required.     JULY 20Optical ToysDating as far back as 100 BC, optical toys use the fundamental theories which make animation work. Well create three variations of the optical toy which we can see working before our very eyes!

    JULY 21Flip BooksFlip books are the grandfather of the techniques animators use in the movie industry today. They are easy and cheap to make as well as super fun!

    JULY 22Paper ShapesCutout paper shapes under the camera is one of the easiest ways to really understand making your picture look how you want it to. Clip and cut to your hearts desires to create an animated scene out of paper.

    JULY 23Clay on GlassAs an incredible variation on paint on glass, clay on glass allows the animator the fl exibility to create super cool images to manipulate and morph into other scenes under the camera.

    Animation Playgound is a series of hands-on learning workshops designed for people of all ages. Learn a new animation technique every day followed by play time to explore how each medium can be manipulated on the frame by frame level. We cover basic to intermediate concepts of animation so youll leave with the understanding of how to make something look alive.

    JULY 29PixilationIn pixilation we get to play actor and move our bodies frame by frame so we are the ones getting animated! Aside from how fun it is, there are tons of really cool tricks and illusions a person can do!

    JULY 30Animating with LightUsing fl ashlights, colored light wands, fi nger lasers, and more, we are able to create moving light where we combine photography play with animation.

This Beginning Publisher class shows you how to do that and so much more. Learn to combine graphics and text to produce a variety of Publisher projects. Classes are small resulting in individualized attention and projects. Students must bring a USB Flash drive to this class.

    Apr 7: Character Based Servant LeadershipThe words servant and leadership would appear to never be linked to one another. However, effective leadership often hinges on the ability of the leader to provide support to their followers in a meaningful manner. In order to provide this support the leader must re-think the traditional top-down leadership model and examine the role the virtues of character, competence, courage, temperance, prudence, and compassion play in daily leadership strategies.

    May 5: Beginning Powerpoint (2013)This introductory course will focus on the use of presentation media software. Students will learn to create high quality, visually pleasing informative presentations. They will edit and format slides; work with clip art, pictures and Word Art; use drawing tools, work with tables and charts, and prepare and run a slide show.

    Jun 2: Effective Decision MakingHave you ever wondered why well intentioned and capable leaders sometimes make poor choices and bad decisions? In this course we will examine the psychology, group dynamics, and theories of organizational culture and systems that effect decision making. Real world cases will be used to illustrate and explore the dynamics of the decision making process at the individual, group, and organizational levels. Emphasis will be placed on behaviors and techniques that can be used to enhance effective decision making.
