 YOURLOOK.me presents

UPCOMING DESIGNERS OF DK Danish fashion is known for its unique take on design. During Copenhagen

Fashion Week the runways come alive with a diverse cast of well established Danish design talent. But there’s still plenty of upcoming

design talent waiting to be discovered within the Danish boarders.

The event will give you a chance to take part in the discovery of the next big design talents of Denmark. The 15 young designers are carefully

picked by a jury consisting of: Margrethe Dal (Buying director at Magasin) and designers, Prisca Vilsbøl and Pia de Arce (Vilsbøl de Arce),

Rikke Hubert (Hubert) and Sara Sachs (from Moonspoon Saloon).

On the following pages you will find an introduction to the jury and a pre-view on the 15 design talents and their mini-collections.

We’re proud to present the future design talents of Denmark to you,

Sara Sachs is the designer behind the internationally acclaimed fashion label Moonspoon Saloon, based in Copenhagen and Los Angeles. Their work breaks the boarders between fashion and art and her expressive and crazy beautiful creations attract attention from all around the world. Moonspoon Saloon’s fashion shows is something out of the ordinary where the regular catwalk is replaced with conceptual performances.

THE JURY

Copenhagen based Prisca Vilsbøl and Pia de Arce created the label Vilsbøl de Arce. Using micro weaving techniques they have faced proportion with renewed vigour. Conjuring associations to early armour with their bulging breastplates and exaggerated shoulders, their work is based on sturdy construction with flexibility and movement. Using natural textiles and leathers, they braid and intertwine to create garments like a second skin, re-structuring the body’s silhouette by combining their signature proportions with serpentine body con shapes.

Rikke Hubert is the designer behind Hubert. It started up in 2005, in her own vintage shop, which is now replaced by the workshop in Nørrebro. Hubert is a womens wear brand always focussing on presenting clothes containing elegance and a dimmed everyday look. The thorough details and quality conscious choice of material gives each piece of clothing its own and unique expression. It is feminine and often inspired by vintage style added

melancholy and bright colors.   It is feminine and often inspired by vintage style added melancholy and bright colors.

”The inspiration came from unlike asymetric figures and from avantgarde designers. The asymetric lines are shown throughout the collection and another keyword is contrast. With lots of different textures, mat and shiny, light and heavy fabrics the collection is kept in mainly dark colours. Some of the styles can transform in to other forms and can be styled to become very personal.”

LOUISE EGEBRO ”THE REVENGE OF THE KUNG FU FIGHTER "The inspiration of my project is based on the Chinese Martial Arts Kung Fu's physical existence as well as the mindset and philosophy behind this. To obtain a coveted state of mind - a state that represents a set of values as one whom exercises will want to represent.

Kung Fu is like a meditative journey where individuals undergo a personal development through years of learning, and this journey takes place in a movement-based process in which body movements learned that mastered."

NICKLAS KUNZ

“Bricolage is the focus for my collection – I have taken certain style references and changed them and their dna by putting them into new contexts. Which created an edgy ready-to-wear street-chic collection.”

”THE CONCEPT. CLEAN LINES INSPIRED BY THE 60s MY INSPIRATION IS 1960 AND ITS SIMPLE CUT WHICH I WOULD LIKE MY CLOTHES TO REFLECT. I USED STRAW WHICH WAS A VERY COMMON ACCESORIE MATERIAL IN THE 60s, I ALSO USED HEAVY MATERIALS TO ACHIVE A CLEANER MORE PROMINANT CUT. IN ORDER TO UPDATE MY COLLECTION FROM THE 1960s TO 2013 I CHOSE TO INTRODUCE THE OVERLAPING OF GARMENTS.”

"People are busy. Busy to find something big. A huge idea that can give them success. People forget. Forget the simple things in quest of the big idea. The big succes. If people once in a while stopped. Stopped to notice the simple things around them. They will discover that the big ideas often is hidden behind these. At least it is in my case. Simple as a shoelace".

”WTAHTKC; As a designer I am fascinated with clothing the body in shapes that allows for a more complex silhouette, but maintains its wear ability. I work with expression, transformation, deconstruction and the intention to show the way to a multitude of diversity in a visual expression that are not broken down by gender.”

”TITLE: A Diamond’s Decay

DESCRIPTION: My collection is inspired by H.C. Andersen’s fairytale ”The Darning--‐Needle” from where I got my main themes ”diamond” and ”a woman’s decay”.

Material experiments has been an important part of my work through the collection, and the expression in the clothes is a mixture of scientific and futuristic space combined with old fashion vintage.”

“My Masters project aims to make sustainable fashion the most desirable choice. I have therefore focused on making attractive sustainable garments for women looking for quality and exquisite details, as I believe it is possible for sustainability and high quality to go hand in hand. For this purpose I have worked with the following sustainable parameters: all items in the collection need to be recyclable and able to compost in order to have a minimal environmental impact. The collection is designed by acknowledging and using the negative spaces around the body to create light and airy silhouettes. It uses graphic and asymmetric cuts to express this. As a designer I am very interested in exploring the boundaries between nakedness and the covered body.”

BRUNO KLEIST

”Inspired by the aesthetics of ”The Magnificent Seven”, seven cemeteries in London. The contrast of old versus new, the decay and transformation of these cemeteries is transformed into a menswear collection. By combining this aesthetic with classic tailored menswear details and various textile treatments, I´ve created my own interpretation of modern menswear.”

”The collection Chaotic Calm is inspired by the silence in a big city. Have you ever tried to escape from all the hustle and bustle by taking one step away from the streets into a green area to achieve a calm and silent moment? I have tried to create this feeling by mixing conservative and casual silhouettes, making the expression stronger by using two completely different garments; the knit is chaotic in its structure while the woven garment brings it down to earth by being predictable

and calm.”

SIGNE ”MY MYNT”

”The focus for this collection is to make interesting effortless clothes, where attention to innovative details yet easy to wear styles are key!!

The Scandinavian summer is never to be trusted and therefore you need a collection that is easy to layer if the weather one day is cold and rainy - and at the same time you want clothes that will take you from the beach to the the summer night partyes. The collection embodies the understated, urban, cool Scandinavian style.”

SOFIE ROSENKRANDS

”My collection is builed on the relation between a brother and a sister – to be created from the same, but still be different. The idea is to create a united universe that combines the different textures, fabrics and lines from both sister and brother. The masculin styles has a build in sporty feeling and the feminine has a elegant feel to it.”

ERLA BJORK

”The theme of this collection is “boyish lady” which is drawn from the inspiration, Annemarie Schwarzenbach, a high class Swiss 30s socialite and writer best known for provoking by wearing outfits designed for men. The color palette and most of the design features are drawn from the interior of the Reunification Palace in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) in Vietnam, a symbol for the end of the Vietnam War and victory of the North Vietnamese Socialist/Communist regime. The palace is a place where time has stood still since 1975. The collection draws its main features from these two inspirations and the clean lines of Communism.”
