A&H Show ~ Buyer Letter Now is a good time to start identifying potential buyers for the A&H Show. Exhibitors are encouraged to write letters inviting business owners, family and friends to come out and support the San Patricio/Aransas County A&H Show.

Tips to writing a buyer letter:

Hand write the letters and tell them about your project. Describe the work you have put into the project and what you have LEARNED by working with the project.

Invite potential buyers-don't demand they come.

Encourage them to come support the entire show-don't just ask them to come to the auction.

Please DO NOT tell them “I want you to buy my project”. If you do a good job writing your letter and extending a general invitation to the show, they will remember you and look to support you at the show.

Horse Validation Date of Entry

STEER & HEIFER EXHIBITORS: There is only 1 more workout left! Anyone with steer or heifer projects are welcomed to bring their project on the following date. This is a good opportunity to

get your calf out in the arena. There will be several leaders on hand to provide “informal” instruction. Join us at the San Patricio County Fairgrounds Horse Arena from 6:00 - 8:00 pm December 18.

HOMEMAKING ENTRIES This is an excellent time to prepare handicrafts, textiles, garments and practice your food entries for the 2014 A&H Show! Contact your club manager or the Extension Office for a copy of the 2014 Homemaking Division Rules or visit the A&H Show’s website at www.sanpatahshow.com.

San Patricio County 4-H Today DECEMBER 2013

If your address changes, PLEASE correct it on

4-H Connect:

http://texas4-h.tamu.edu/ The address needs to be corrected on the family profile AND in each individual’s profile. The labels for the newsletter and other miscellaneous mailings are generated by the information entered by you or your family. Don’t risk missing out on the monthly 4-H newsletter or other important mailings!

ADULT VOLUNTEER BACKGROUND CHECK To protect our 4-H members, the Texas 4-H Program administers an adult screening program. This screening is conducted every 3 years. All adults who will be working directly with youth (other than their own children) must complete the adult registration form on 4-H Connect to be screened. Once their registration has been approved from the State office, then we can certify those adults as San Patricio County volunteers. Only those adults who have been screened and cleared through YPS will have the privilege of working with 4-H members. There is a $10 fee for each adult who will be screened. Checks need to be made out to San Patricio 4-H Council and mailed to the Extension Office. Once a check has been received by the office, the office will mail off for the screening to be completed.

To be eligible to compete in the A&H Show in any division, (including Homemaking) you must attend at least 60% of club meetings. Attendance for the 2014 Show started in January, 2013. You must also meet UIL academic eligibility requirements by passing all of your classes. Start out the 4-H year right by attending club meetings and keeping your grades up!

New 4-H members must also attend 60% of their club meeting, however, their club attendance begins on Sept. 1, 2013. Only new 4-H members will be allowed to count January 2014 attendance.

Reminder:

If your animal loses its validation tag, call the Extension Office ASAP with the tag number so that a replacement

can be ordered.
