A Message from the PrincipalSHHS Families,

State Testing UpdatesPhoto IDEach student must bring a photo ID to each test. No Cell Phone Usage Allowed During TestingProcedures for our state-mandated spring tests are very strictabout student cell phones. If a student has their phone out, and/or if the phonegoes off in class, the proctor is required to invalidate the student's test, whichmeans the student forfeits their graduation points for the test in question, and isrequired to retake the test at a later date. To protect our students from theseconsequences, we ask that all students turn their phones completely off (not just onsilent or vibrate), and give them to the proctor when entering the exam room.Students may get their phones back only when they leave the exam room (notwhen they finish their individual exam or go to the restroom, etc.) This protects all ofour students from accusations of cheating with their phones. Please discuss thiswith your child, and contact our Building Test Coordinator, Karen Slovikovski, or meif you have any questions or concerns. Thank you for your support andcooperation. School District NewsA Message from the PTO Council Co-Presidents Wondering about the new kiosks you see in the High School Office, theAdministration Building and the Middle School Office? We did some homework tofind out what was behind these new additions to our buildings. The HappyorNotkiosks are a pilot program the District is using designed to measure the "customerexperience" in our offices. Customers may seem an out of place term for theeducational environment, but it is meant to refer to the parents, students and eventeachers who are in our buildings every day. Measuring and providing an excellentcustomer or Shaker Experience is part of the District's strategic plan. The kiosksare intended as a first step in this process. These experiences may be as simpleas signing a child in from a doctor's appointment, attending a conference ormeeting with someone in the District. Taken together, these interactions build animpression of the rest of the educational environment. Let's hope the kiosksprovide useful feedback. Please read the information provided by the ShakerSchools HR Department for further insight.
