Sue Horne outlined the goals for Vybrant Dressage Club for 2019 and showed some innovative work currently being done on the Vybrant website where members could access specific and detailed information on their achievements, and overall percentages of categories of members could be seen graphically (great work in progress).

Judy Vertue outlined the philosophies behind the new 2019 Dressage Tests.

ALTOGETHER A GREAT EVENING WAS HAD BY ALL!

DEVELOPMENT CLINIC

Our first event at Fourways Riding Centre where the wonderful new fibre surface in the Milton Arena rode beautifully. FEI Judge Suzanne Horne judged various levels of tests and immediately afterwards gave feedback to the rider and the coach.

Vybrant Dressage Club’s first

Rising Stars Clinic

Vybrant Dressage Club is delighted to be able to take over this programme run initially so successfully by Kate Laird, Caroline Potts and Gill Taylor in 2017, as this is in line with one of our goals of developing child riders. In pursuit of this

goal, membership of Vybrant Dressage Club for children & juniors is free.

In an introductory talk to parents, coaches and children, Clinic Leader Gill Taylor said “ It is our vision to assist in the creation and production of confident, proficient child riders who can easily make the transition to a variety of disciplines, by having had this opportunity to learn the fundamental basics in a fun and non-stressful environment.”

Our first Graded Show at Fourways Riding

Centre

Great day, great entries, great atmosphere! Riders had access to ‘instant’ results on three big screens as the class progressed. Several riders swept the board with multiple Firsts!

Robyn Andrews and H & R Dressage’s

Compton House Status Quo II beautifully turned out in Vybrant Blue!

Lots of positive comments were received on how well the new 2019 tests rode.

Many thanks to Symbiosis for sponsoring beautiful rosettes.

Beautiful rosettes kindly sponsored by

Catherine Berning up from KZN gained five Firsts on her Kuda Insurance sponsored horses, the Medium 1 with Ciroc R, Elementary/Medium 1 and 2 with Compton House Quantico and Elementary 1 and 2 with Midas Touch Bravado Patrick Brown won the Prix St Georges on ‘Woody’; Novice 1 & 2 on Indiana Breeze and Prelim 2 on Wows Sir Nicholas. Lyn Bremner won the Advanced 1 on Bon Esprit and tie 1st with Patrick in Prelim 2 on Herbachs Lunox.

Four year old McDreamy, a star in the making, was able to compete at his first show,

the Rising Stars Clinic on 23 February 2019.

The story of McDreamy was beautifully captured by Midrand Reporter, Andrei van Wyk. “The sheer trauma of being hit by a train, as well as surviving to tell the tale and fighting through the bone-chilling aftermath, is a thought that many could not imagine.” This happened when McDreamy was 14 months old. He was fortunately found by Animals in Distress and after 4 months of treatment was moved to Penny van Asche’s yard in Glenferness and she became his primary carer.

Last year, he was ready to be ridden by Penny and eventually child rider, Kaitlyn Coleman, was ready to take over the reins under the watchful eye of coach, Fiona Hoekstra. Says Fiona “ he’s a very enthusiastic pony and has a survivor instinct which stems from his background. He’s also very independent and doing super well in his training”.

We look forward eagerly to further news of his progress!
