Double CalTrans Compost/Mulch Purchases

CalTrans uses compost statewide primarily for erosion control

US Composting Council (USCC) estimates that CalTrans has a potential market for compost of between 3.35-6.72 M cu. yds.

CalTrans use of compost and mulch will be measured in 2007 and succeeding years

Agriculture Demonstration Project

Current Ag compost use guidelines very broad and spotty

Proposed demo project would use a more comprehensive set of parameters

Results will be incorporated into ACP index for use by growers

New specifications will become the foundation for further research
