Intended AudiencePhysicians, Advanced Practice Professionals, Pharmacists, Residents, Students, other healthcare providers, and Hospitalist Administrators. Purpose We will present important clinical information for those caring for patients in a hospital setting and promote a venue for presentation of local quality improvement projects, research, and case reports related to hospital medicine. Our goal is to improve communication and collaboration of Iowa professionals involved in Hospital Medicine to improve patient care outcomes.

Educational ObjectivesUpon completion of this course, the participant should be able to:

• Successfully integrate Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants into Hospitalist practices utilizing novel care delivery models.• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat inpatient and perioperative anaphylaxis. • Identify which organ system is affected and the severity of involvement using common laboratory tests and imaging to evaluate inpatient Rheumatologic urgencies.• Develop an evidence-based treatment plan for treating thyroid storm.• Describe the new Brief Resolved Unexplained Events guidelines.• Establish an approach to patients with signs and symptoms of infectious diseases.

OFFICIAL RULESEligibility:Abstract submissions will be accepted in three categories: research, innovations, and clinical vignettes. Abstracts are eligible for submission if they have not been published in a peer- re-viewed journal prior to December 31, 2016. Abstracts published in meeting proceedings or other materials that are not copyrighted are eligible for submission. It is the responsibility of the submitter to check on whether material is copyrighted.

Intended AudiencePhysicians, Advanced Practice Professionals, Pharmacists, Residents, Students, other healthcare providers, and Hospitalist Administrators. Purpose We will present important clinical information for those caring for patients in a hospital setting and promote a venue for presentation of local quality improvement projects, research, and case reports related to hospital medicine. Our goal is to improve communication and collaboration of Iowa professionals involved in Hospital Medicine to improve patient care outcomes.

Educational ObjectivesUpon completion of this course, the participant should be able to:

• Successfully integrate Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants into Hospitalist practices utilizing novel care delivery models.• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat inpatient and perioperative anaphylaxis. • Identify which organ system is affected and the severity of involvement using common laboratory tests and imaging to evaluate inpatient Rheumatologic urgencies.• Develop an evidence-based treatment plan for treating thyroid storm.• Describe the new Brief Resolved Unexplained Events guidelines.• Establish an approach to patients with signs and symptoms of infectious diseases.

Abstracts are eligible for submission if they have not been published in a peer- re-viewed journal prior to December 31, 2016.
