20 MDG Now Accepting Retiree TRICARE Prime Enrollment Applications By: Ms. Nancy Martin, 20 Medical Group TRICARE Liaison The 20th Medical Group is very pleased to announce acceptance of retiree and retired family member applications for enrollment to a Primary Care Manager (PCM) in our facility when beneficiaries enroll in TRICARE Prime. New patients will be required to complete a health assessment questionnaire for review by the medical staff. The purpose of this review is to ensure we assign each patient to a provider who can deliver the proper level of care to afford you the best medical care possible. Due to PCM manning issues, retiree enrollment into the 20th Medical Group was halted in 2010. This action ensured our PCMs were available to provide immediate care to our Active Duty patients, as directed by the Department of Defense. Now that provider and nurse staffing have stabilized, the 20th Medical Group has the capacity to accept new enrollees while maintaining appropriate appointment access standards. Retirees and their family members should also be aware of the 20th Medical Group’s mandatory enrollment policy which took effect 22 Jan 13. This policy requires any patient who elects to enroll in TRICARE Prime and lives within a 20 minute driving time to our facility, to enroll to the 20th Medical Group. Patients who fit this category and believe there is a medical reason why they should be enrolled to a civilian PCM have the ability to request an enrollment waiver. The waiver will be reviewed by the 20th Medical Group and the patient will be notified of the determination. For more information regarding retiree TRICARE Prime enrollment, please contact the Patient Administration office at 895-6228 or visit the TRICARE Service Center, building 1051, between the hours of 0730-1630, Monday through Friday. In addition, beneficiaries can learn much more about the 20th Medical Group such as clinic hours of operation, appointments and TRICARE On-Line enrollment by visiting the facility’s webpage at http://www.shaw.af.mil/units/medicalservices/index.asp or Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/20thmedicalgroup?ref=hl .
