UPCOMING NO-SCHOOL DAYS This is just a reminder that there is no school on the following dates: May 31 – Memorial Day SPRING AIR END-OF-COURSE EXAMS The administration of Ohio’s End-of-Course (EOC) exams to students in grades 9, 10, and 11 taking specific subjects will continue on April 28 with the Biology and Government exams. The bell schedule for AIR exam dates is included with this update. WEEK OF MAY 31 @ OHS Orange High School will try to end the 2020/2021 school year on a fun note for students and staff! There will be no final exams this school year, and the final week of school will consist of opportunities for students to turn-in any outstanding work in their respective classes, as well as engage in fun activities. Boxed “picnic-style” lunches will be provided in the Commons with activities, such as student bands, music, etc. in the Courtyard. OHS will operate with a Thursday block schedule on Tuesday, June 1 and a Wednesday block schedule on Wednesday, June 2. On Thursday, June 3 students may continue to turn outstanding work in to their teachers from 7:30am – 11:00am. AP EXAM UPDATES Orange High School will administer in-person paper/pencil Advanced Placement Exams from May 3 - May 17, 21, and 25. Preparations will be made so that all students have at least 6 foot spacing during testing. At home digital exams will be administered on May 19, 20, and 26th. Please see the enclosed schedule. SENIOR PARENT INFORMATION Thank you to all senior parents who have paid for this year's Senior Dues. The deadline is fast approaching and all dues must be paid by May 10, 2021. Senior Dues are not mandatory however the dues will help cover the cost of: senior dinner, senior t-shirt, and senior gift to the student. Senior Dues are $60.00 and may be paid by cash, check (made out to Orange Board of education), or online through Pay-For-It. If you have any questions, please contact the Senior Class Advisor at [email protected] SENIOR PROJECT UPDATES Please see updates related to Senior Project on page 3. LIONETTE ANNOUNCEMENTS The OHS Lionettes Drill Team will be holding its workshops and auditions the last week of April. The competitive Lionettes team performs at Varsity football games and at all band performances. In the past, the members have performed on Fox 8, at the Sugar Bowl, and at Disney World. Any current 8th, 9th, 10th, or 11th grader is eligible to audition. While a dance background is helpful, it is not required to audition. Interested students or parents should sign up with Mrs. Regina Carter at BMS or on the sign-up sheet in the high school band room. IMMUNIZATION REMINDER FOR STUDENTS IN GRADE 11 The Ohio Department of Health requires two (2) doses of Meningococcal vaccine (MCV4) to be administered before a student enters the 12th grade. The second dose of MCV4 must be administered on or after the 16th birthday (If the first dose of MCV4 was administered on or after the 16th birthday, a second dose is not required.). Students currently in grade 11 will need documentation of having received the Meningococcal (MCV4) vaccine. Current immunization records that meet this requirement can be sent to the OHS clinic or emailed to [email protected]. You are receiving this notice now to provide ample time to have your child immunized before the coming school year begins. You can contact your physician or the Cuyahoga County Board of Health (216-201-2041) to schedule an appointment. PTA ANNOUNCEMENTS Please see the enclosed brochures from the PTA about upcoming events; Spring Flower Sale and Staff Appreciation. STUDENT FEES Student feel notices were recently mailed, if you have any questions regarding fees for your child, please contact Stephanie Sentle in the OHS Student Services Office at [email protected] or 216-831-8600 ext. 2605. SENIOR PARENT INFORMATION Thank you to all senior parents who have paid this year's senior dues, which are $60.00. You can pay by cash, check (made out to Orange Board of Education), or online through Pay-For-It. If paying by check or cash please have your student drop the payment off in student services. Senior dues are not mandatory however the dues will help cover the cost of: Senior diner, Senior t-shirt, and senior gift to student. In order to participate in these Senior activities, the dues must be paid. Also, a Google form was sent out to all seniors asking for their T-shirt size. I will need all the sizes complete before an order can be placed. Please make sure your senior has submitted this form. ATTENDANCE In order to report a student absent from their scheduled remote learning class, standard attendance rules apply. SENIOR PROJECT PROCEDURES & ASSIGNMENTS Senior students received final instructions for the month of Senior Project during WeConnect on Friday, April 16. All information presented at this meeting is also available on the Senior Project Google Classroom.

ABSENCES DURING SENIOR PROJECT 1. All absences during Senior Project must be reported by doing ALL of the following:

a. Contact the OHS Attendance Office: (216) 831-8600, ext 2210; or [email protected] b. Contact the Community Sponsor c. Contact the Senior Project Advisors using [email protected]; [email protected]; d. Record the absence on the DAILY ACTIVITIES LOG (located in Google Classroom)

2. The only excused absences from Senior Project are: . AP Tests and Review Sessions (that the student attends) a. Athletic contests at the district, sectional, regional, and state levels, b. Appointments verified in writing by a doctor, dentist, or court; and/or c. Medical excuses with physician’s note submitted to the OHS Attendance Office and the Senior Project Advisors.

3. All Unexcused Absences during Senior Project must be made up.

SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION McCormick & Murphy Personal Injury Scholarship $500.00 for a senior entering college in the fall of 2021 who intends on pursuing a career in law. ORANGE HIGH SCHOOL2021 AP EXAM INFORMATION

2021 UpdatesOrange High School will administer in-person paper/pencil Advanced Placement Exams from May 3 - May 17,21, and 25. Preparations will be made so that all students have at least 6 foot spacing during testing. At homedigital exams will be administered on May 19, 20, and 26th. Please see the schedule for all below.

Exam Start TimesStudents are required to arrive by 7:30 a.m. for morning AP exams and by 11:30 a.m. for afternoon exams.When you arrive in the testing room, please place all personal belongings in the designated area. Directionswill begin promptly at 7:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. After directions have been read, no students will bepermitted to enter the testing room. They will be sent to class. There are no make-up exams unless there is aserious medical reason which must meet requirements set by The College Board. Students may not bedismissed until an exam has officially ended; do not ask to leave early if you finish before the end of the exam.Exams typically end prior to the end time listed on the AP exam chart. Afternoon exams may finish as late as 4p.m. Your teacher can advise you on specific exam timing. If you are in a spring sport or have a job, it is yourresponsibility to inform your coach or employer of your AP Exam obligation and make arrangementsaccordingly.

What to Bring on the day of your AP Exam✓ Several sharpened #2 pencils with erasers for all multiple choice answer sheets—no mechanical

pencils✓ Black or dark blue pens for completing areas on the exam booklet covers and for free-response

2021 Digital AP Exam Instructions

Attendance: Students testing during the school day will be excused from class beginning at 11:30 and

ending at 2:25. All students are expected to attend class until 11:30. Students marked absent by their

teacher will be marked unexcused. In-person students are permitted to attend classes virtually on test

day.

Accommodations: Digital AP Exams will be accessible to students with disabilities who have received

approval for testing accommodations by the College Board Services for Students with Disabilities office.

Internet: An internet connection is required, but students will be able to continue testing even if their

connection drops momentarily during the exam. Please inform Ms. Bargiel if you do not have internet

Practice: The digital testing application is installed in each student’s chromebook for practice and exam

day. After a practice test is complete, students may access their answers and the scoring materials for the

subject through MY AP. The app is in the kiosk: 2021 Digital AP Exams.

Readiness steps before exam day: This needs to be completed 1-3 days before each digital exam. All

readiness steps, including exam setup and check-in, as well as accessing digital practice must be

completed through the digital testing application on the student chromebook, not through MY AP. Watch

Exam Day:

● Sign in 30 minutes prior to the exam. Log in to the digital testing app, where you will see a

Check-In Now button next to your exam on the Active Exams page.

● You will be asked to confirm your personal information, review privacy policies, type a digital test

security statement, and review the test day checklist.

● If a student hasn’t started the check-in process before the official start time of the exam, the

digital testing application will not permit them to test.

● The exam will begin at 12 pm or 4 pm automatically.

● When the exam is over, students’ answers will be submitted automatically.

Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week(May 3 - May 7)

Please help us thank our High School staff and teachers this year. Since we can notdo our traditional staff appreciation lunch due to Covid-19, we would like to showthem our appreciation by treating them to individual gift cards from localrestaurants. The staff has been amazing during these crazy and unprecedentedtimes, working tirelessly to help our kids in every way possible.
