Upper Arlington Area Chamber of Commerce
Vaughn Music Studio to sponsorTaste of UA Music Program
The Taste of UA began as asmall gathering of businesses atTremont Center and grew into anannual event that fills NorthamPark. In addition to featuring foodfrom area restaurants and localbusinesses, there has always been amusical component to the Taste ofUA. In past years, local bands suchas Willie Phoenix, Avalon Nine,The Ark Band, Cougar Trap, TheMajestic’s and McGuffey Lanehave performed at the Taste.
“For the first time in the Tasteof UA’s 19 years, we are so pleasethat Vaughn Music Studio hasagreed to sponsor the festival’smusic program. As the Taste eventcontinues to grow, we are also try-ing to grow the musical aspect ofthe event. Bringing Vaughn onboard is essential to the growthof the event as an opportunity forlocal musicians to gain exposureand entertain the thousands ofpeople who attend the Taste,” saysBecky Hajost, president of theUpper ArlingtonArea Chamber ofCommerce.
Vaughn MusicStudio’s (VMS)new facility locat-ed on RiversideDrive featuresmultiple acousti-cally isolated les-son rooms, a stateof the art record-ing studio, anda 1,000 squarefeet performancespace. VMS is afull-service music studio providingartist development, music instruc-tion and recording, voice, guitar, piano, drums, performance coach-ing, workshops and webinars.
“Vaughn is an asset to Colum-bus’ artistic community. Bring-ing their production know howis essential to growing the Tasteas we look to feature more localbands and musicians at the Taste. We hope to evolve into a multi-day festival promoting local musicand talent. We love that we giverecognition to area restaurants andfood vendors, so we think that it isnatural to add an expanded musi-cal piece to the Taste of UA.
In brain storming with CollinGawel of Collin’s Coffee, CindyVaughn of Vaughn Music Studiosand Doug Ryan, the Chamber’sboard president, we came to agree
that we could add an expanded lo-cal music production to the Taste. The Taste has brought recognitionto area restaurants, why not to lo-cal musicians as well,” says Hajost.
Residents of Upper Arlingtoncan enjoy music in the parks freeduring the summer with family-oriented concerts. “Listening tolive music, close to home, is oneof the wonderful benefits of living
in Upper Arlington. As support-ers of local artists we welcome theopportunity to provide artful en-
counters for our community,” saysLynette Santoro-Au, Arts Man-ager City of Upper Arlington.
This year’s Taste of UA will fea-ture the following local bands.
Central Planners – The Cen-tral Planners blend a vast array ofinfluences and musical experienceresulting in a sound that can onlybe described as original. Good Company – CentralOhio’s total classic rock experi-ence, Good Company plays yourfavorite rock music from the late’60s and early ’70s featuring songsfrom Fleetwood Mac and GrandFunk Railroad to Bob Seger andSweet and everything in between.Main stage 6:15 to 7:00 p.m.
