offers a six floor 267 bedroom luxury hotel

Engineering Excellence

Innovative Solutions

The Ark

London Upton McGougan were selected to supply

all the building services engineering.

The Ark, located in Hammersmith in West

London, has a gross area of 180,000sqft

over 9 floors. As part of efforts to ensure

that the area was maximised, the floors

increased in area from levels 1-5, before

decreasing in size up to level 9.

It was this design that lead to the unique

appearance. The atrium required

innovative environmental and fire

engineering strategies to ensure that the

building remained habitable and met

building control and fire regulations.

Highbridge

Uxbridge A development of luxury office building

located alongside the Grand Union Canal

in the heart of the commercial centre of

Uxbridge.

Upton McGougan provided civil and

structural engineering. The Highbridge

development was completed in two

phases:

Phase 1 was the structural design of two

large offices.

Phase 2 involved the design of two

mid-tech buildings with a staff gym,

restaurant and river terrace.

26-28 Ramsgate Street

London The redevelopment of the site of a former

pickle factory. The mixed use development

extends over fourteen floors with office

space on the lower two floors and sixty

residential units above.

Central to the design concept was a

600msq solar roof incorporating

photovoltaic (solar electric) panels.

Upton McGougan

carried out a site wide

energy assessment as

part of an Energy

Statement for planning.

Oxford Castle

Oxford

Upton McGougan’s building

services team were involved at

the preliminary stages of plans

to develop the former Castle

site; including Grade I and II

listed buildings.

This project consisted of hotel,

retail, catering and leisure

development including an 87

bedroom hotel; a gallery,

education centre and café; retail

units and tourist information

centre; restaurant and bars;

student accommodation, and

services apartments.

Tonedale Mill

Wellington

Upton McGougan provided structural

surveys, designs, and inspection works for

the redevelopment of the old woollen mill

in the south of Wellington to a mixture

of houses, offices and light industrial units.

The majority of existing buildings were

listed and were retained.

A minimal intervention approach to only

repair and refurbish what was absolutely

necessary was important for this project as

most builds were constructed in different

eras.
