Urban Buildings

Definition of Urban An urban area is characterized by higher population density and vast human features in comparison to areas surrounding it. Urban areas are created and further developed by the process of urbanization. Measuring the extent of an urban area helps in analyzing population density and urban sprawl, and in determining urban and rural populations. Urban buildings are specialists in domestic and commercial building. So my following PowerPoint will be showing you different urban buildings and I will be illustrating to you on my thoughts of them.  

Mind  Map  For my project I visited the city of London where I had to take photos of different types of urban buildings around the area. I mainly focused on extraordinary buildings which are eye catchy as I thought they stood out more from the others. I had to take photographs and edit them on Photoshop where I had to upgrade the way it looks and make it stand out and look even better.

Ar*st  Research    Ted  Van  Cleave:    is  a  famous  photographer  who  has  captures  the  urban  landscape  of  Los  Angeles  by  focusing  on  the  city’s  unique  style  of  modern  and    industrial  architecture.  His  photographs  of  the  city’s  architecture  are  brilliant,  almost  dim,  abstracts  that  symbolize  colours  of  the  city’s  landscape.  Van  possesses  a  unique  ability  to  capture  subjects  in  light  and  shadow,  adding  a  richness  and  more  detailed  depth  of  his  abstract.

Evaluation of picture 1:

My intension of taking this photo was to capture the London Gurken in between two urban buildings making the photo really special and really important for my urban project. The shape and the design of the urban buildings are extraordinary as they stand out from other plain buildings around the area. The composition of this photo is horizontal, the lighting of the photo is reflected on the windows of the urban building causing them to look very shiny. The colours of the photograph is dim and dark, this makes the urban buildings look more unique as the windows are opaque. Overall im happy with this photo as it contains 3 major urban buildings next to each other in 1 photograph.

                                   Evaluation of picture 2:

My intension of taking this photo was to catch the sunlight lighting up the atmosphere and also the massive urban building making it stand out and rise above all the other buildings. The composition of this photo is Horizontal also the view point of the photograph is taken at a eye level point. The lighting of the photo is dim due to the sun just about showing between two urban buildings on the left of the photograph which I think is quiet exquisite.
