PRECAUTIONARY STATEMENTS HAZARDS TO HUMANS AND DOMESTIC ANIMALS STATEMENT OF PRACTICAL TREATMENT

. DANGER Call a doctor (physician), clinic or hospital immediately. Explain that the victim has been exposed to parathion and describe his cond-i tron. IF SWALLOWED: Call a physician or Poison Control Center immediately. Drink 1 o~ ,2 glasses of water and induce vomiting by touching the back of throat ~}ith finger. Do not give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. IF INHALED: Remove victim to fresh air. If breathing has stopped, start artificial respiration immediately and maintain until doctor sees victim. IF ON SKIN: Remo'! contaminated clothing and wash immediately with soap and water. IF IN EYES: Flush eyes with plenty of water and get medical attention.

POISON SIGNS(Symptoms) Parathion is a very dangerous poison. It rapidly enters the body on contact with all skin surfaces and eyes. Clothing wet with this material must be removed immed.l.ately. Exposed persons must receive prompt medical treatment or they may die. Some of the symptoms of poisoning are: headache, nausea, vomiting, cramps, weakness, blurred vision, pin-point pupils, tightness of chest, labored breathing, 'nervousness, sweating, watering of eyes, drooling or £'rothing of mouth and nose, muscle spasms and coma.

NOTE TO PHYSICIAN Antidote-Administer atropine SUlphate in large doses. TWO to FOUR mg. intravenously or intramuscularly as soon as cyanosis is overcome. Repeat at 5 to 10 minute intervals until signs of atropinization appear. 2-PAM chloride is also antidotal and may be administered in con~unc~ion with atropine. DO NOT GIVE MORPHINE OR TRANQUILIZ~~:'. Parath~?n ~s a strong cholinesterase inhibitor affecting the central and penpheral nervous system and producing cardiac and respiratory depression. At first sign of pulmonary edema, the patient should be given Bupplemental oxygen and treated symptomatically. Continued absorption of the poison may occur and fatal relapses h~ve been reported after the initial improvement. VERY CLOSE SUPERVISION OF THE PATIENT IS INDICATED FOR AT LEAST 48 HOURS.

Run-off and drift may be hazardous' to aquatic orga~isms in adjacent aquatic sites. Do not contaminate water by cleaning of equipment or disposal of wastes.

To control - budworm, hornworn'. green peach aphid, flea beetle, ~roen stink bug and cabbage looper - apply at tile rate of 1 to 2 quarlS per acr ... Use sufficient water for good coverage. For airplana application, usa at least 3 to 10 gallons of water depending on crop size. for plant bed treatment, dilute 1 quart to 100 gallons of water ~nd epply at the rata of 6 Jsllons per 100 square yards. Begin applications when insect infestetion becomes damaging 'od repeat in 10 to 14 days or as necessary for control. Do not apply within 5 days of priming or 15 days of cutting. Avoid getting wet with plant juices when cutting. Workers entering treated fields within 24 hours of treatment shoUld wear pro-tective clothing.

DISPOSAL WARNING Dispose of waste pesticide and spillage by burying in non·crop land away from water supplies. Containers should be perforated or crushed and bu rjed with waste.

STORAGE AND DISPOSAL STORAGE: Store pesticide in original container and place in a locked storage area. Opened pesticide containers should be securely resealed prior to storage. Protect from penetration of moisture, excessive heat or cold. Avoid cross·contamination with other pesticides or lertilizer3. Use caution when storing pesticides in stacks. PESTICIDE DISPOSAL: Pesticide wastes are acutely hazardous. Improper disposal
