Fishing GuideSan Diego BayNational Wildlife Refuge
In the heart of San Diego’s urban landscape lies an oasis for fish, migratory birds, and endangered species. Located in south San Diego Bay, the San Diego Bay National Wildlife Refuge includes the Sweetwater marsh Unit and the South San Diego Bay Unit. The intertidal salt marsh habitat of the San Diego Bay National Wildlife Refuge provides a safe place for juvenile fish to grow. Where fishing is allowed on the San Diego Bay National Wildlife Refuge, California Saltwater Sport Fishing Regulations apply.
. . . that 70% of all fish present in San Diego Bay National Wildlife Refuge are juveniles? The bay’s intertidal areas provide important nursery habitat for fish such as Pacific mackerel, jack mackerel, California scorpionfish, halibut, surf perch, California halfbeak, round stingray, and more!
San Diego Bay National Wildlife Refuge is located in the southern portion of San Diego Bay.
