Hunting is permitted in accordance with state regulations (see wdfw.wa.gov/hunting/regulations/) and special refuge regulations. Open to Hunting – Goose, duck, coot, snipe, dove, all upland game birds, and deer. Closed to Hunting – All other species of wildlife not listed are protected. Protected species include, but are not limited to, elk, bear, snakes, raven, crow, coyote, turkey, and rabbits. Deer Hunting – Deer hunting is allowed on the Peninsula and Two Rivers Units. Days – The Two Rivers Unit, Peninsula Unit, Villard Ponds and Crescent Island are open to the lawful pursuit of the above listed species 7 days a week. Hours – The refuge is open from 1-1/2 hours before legal hunt time to 1-1/2 hours after legal hunt time. This also includes all boat ramps within the refuge. General Public Entry – For non-hunters, the refuge is open 7 days a week from sunrise to sunset. Firearms & Ammunition – Firearms may only be discharged in accordance with FWS regulations (50 CFR 27.42) and refuge-specific regulations (50 CFR Part 32). Only shotguns are permitted for waterfowl, snipe, dove, and upland game birds. Shotguns and archery are permitted for deer hunting. Only federally approved non- toxic shot may be used or possessed for shotguns; this includes buckshot for big game. However, the use of lead slugs in shotguns for deer hunting is permitted. Vehicle Travel – All vehicles, including bicycles, are restricted to designated motorized routes of travel and parking areas. Boats – Hunters intending to use boat ramps within refuge boundaries must remain outside of those boundaries until 1-1/2 hours before legal hunting time. Other boat ramps, such as Finley and Hood Park, offer earlier access to areas outside of the refuge. Dogs – Dogs must be kept on leash, except during the lawful pursuit of game during legal seasons. Blinds & Details on Specific Hunting Areas Two Rivers Unit, Villard Ponds, & Crescent Island – Hunting is free-roam. Only portable or temporary blinds constructed of non-living natural materials are permitted; permanent blinds are not permitted. Casey Pond – The north end of Casey Pond is closed to all hunting. There are 2 island hunting sites (15 and 16 – see map); hunting is allowed only from those islands. Peninsula Unit – Except for the Disabled Hunter Blind Site, hunting is on a first-come, first-served basis. Hunting on the east shoreline and islands is only allowed from established Blind Sites #1-12. Hunters must remain within 100 feet of these marked posts unless retrieving birds or setting decoys. Blind Sites #1-4, #12, and #14- 16 are walk-in or boat access. Blind Sites #5-10 and #13 are reserved for walk-in access; hunters must park their vehicles at the corresponding numbered post in the main parking lot for these blinds. Hunting on interior ponds and the west side shoreline of the Peninsula Unit is free-roam. Peninsula Unit (Disabled Accessible Blind) – Shoreline Blind Site #11 is reserved exclusively for disabled hunters, but reservations are required. Reservations may be made up to 1 week in advance, beginning at 8:00 a.m., by contacting the refuge at 509-546-8325. Blind capacity is 4 persons. Badger, Foundation & Strawberry Islands – These islands are closed to all access year round. Hunting is not permitted within 1/4-mile of these islands.
