Essential Question

• Why is the physical

proportion of human

figures an important

aspect in architectural

drafting and design?

Technical Drafting using

CAD Software

Technical Drafting

• is the process of accurately

creating a visual

representation of a design to

serve as reference for

construction or manufacture.

Page 7: Usage of AutoCAD Starting AutoCAD 2006 AutoCAD 2006 Window

Usage of AutoCAD

• AutoCAD is a computer- aided design and drafting program which runs on a wide range of standard desktop computers, bringing the benefits of high performance CAD system within the reach of even the smallest organization.

Page 8: Usage of AutoCAD Starting AutoCAD 2006 AutoCAD 2006 Window

Advantage of using AutoCAD

The use of CAD software

allows for the production

of technical drawings in a

more sophisticated

manner.

Advantage of using AutoCAD

• AutoCAD can easily finish a week program of manual drafting in just a day. Productively, competitively, and conveniently wise, AutoCAD is the most preferred program for today’s Modern Construction Firms and most Overseas Companies use the proficiency of AutoCAD.

SALARY PACKAGE

• Overseas opportunities for

CAD Operators are abundant

owing to the higher salary

rates offered. The salary range

offered in foreign parts start at

P60,000 up to P100,000

monthly.

SAFETY GUIDELINES for CAD Operators

• Keyboard position: Maintain a relaxed seated position with elbows bent at approximately a 90-degree angle and fingers positioned at the home row keys.

Page 14: Usage of AutoCAD Starting AutoCAD 2006 AutoCAD 2006 Window

SAFETY GUIDELINES for CAD Operators

• Input devices (mouse): It is common for CAD drafters to carry out work using only one arm for long periods of time. Forearm support can be provided by the use of desks or chairs with adjustable armrests.

Page 15: Usage of AutoCAD Starting AutoCAD 2006 AutoCAD 2006 Window

SAFETY GUIDELINES for CAD Operators

• Monitor Position: The placement of the monitor is set at about an arm’s length or approximately 20” to 24” on the desk. The top of the monitor screen should be at the user’s eye level or slightly below it.

Page 16: Usage of AutoCAD Starting AutoCAD 2006 AutoCAD 2006 Window

SAFETY GUIDELINES for CAD Operators

• Proper Lighting: Task Lighting is ideal for CAD operator workstations. General lighting may offer too much light that causes glare and lead to eyestrain and headache while working.

• Remember to take regular breaks from using the computer.

5. Model and Layout tabs There are two distinct working environments, or

“spaces,” in which you can create objects in a

drawing.

• Typically, a model composed of geometric objects

is created in a three-dimensional space called

model space.

• A final layout of specific views and annotations of

this model is created in a two-dimensional space

called paper space. These spaces are accessible

on two or more tabs near the bottom of the

drawing area:

the Model tab and one or more layout tabs.
