Dear Parents,
I am very excited to be working with your child in
reading this year. Currently, your child is reading below
grade level. I am sending home a Take Home Reading Skills
Book with your child. This booklet can be used with any
reading book that the child is reading. The child can
complete any of the pages in any order. They can complete
one page a week, or one section from each page a week, or
several pages in a week.
When your child completes the book, I will send
home another book. Your child will also earn lunch with the
teacher for going above and beyond to become a better
reader. You are more than welcome to join us during your
child’‛s lunchtime to celebrate the accomplishment. It would
be great if you could regularly have your child read what he
or she has written in his/her book aloud to you or a sibling.
This will be very helpful in ensuring your child’‛s continued
success. If you have any questions, please feel free to send
me a note in your child’‛s agenda. I look forward to seeing
your child’‛s completed book!
