CareLogic Workstation Recommendations

This document will assist with questions about system hardware and software requirements. Technical configuration recommendations are provided for user workstations to effectively use CareLogic. System Administrators should ensure user workstations meet or exceed the minimum requirements. The minimum hardware and software requirements are provided as a current base‐line and will change over time. If possible, agencies should acquire systems exceeding minimum guidelines to provide a better user experience.

Minimum PC Hardware and Software Required to Use CareLogic:

• Windows PC with a 2 GHz CPU• 4 Gigabytes of RAM• 1024 x 768 resolution standard‐screen monitor• Wi‐Fi or Ethernet network adapter with Internet access• Windows 7 operating system (32 or 64 bit version)‐ Service Pack 1 or above‐ Validate .Net Framework 4 or above is installed if not use below link.

Configuring Internet Explorer 11 for CareLogic

This document describes recommended settings for all customers (including those accessing the Patient Portal) who are running CareLogic using Microsoft Internet Explorer 11.

Configuring Internet Explorer Security Settings

This section tells users how to configure the recommended security settings for Internet Explorer.

Configuring Internet Explorer Security Trusted Sites 1. Click the Settings icon (in the upper right corner of the screen).

Microsoft ended support for all old Internet Explorer (IE) browsers on January 12, 2016. This means that Microsoft no longer conducts security updates or provides technical support ser‐vices for IE browsers prior to IE 11. The continued use of unsupported IE versions could jeopar‐dize the security of protected client data, place your organization at risk for data breaches, and threaten eligibility for state and federal reimbursements, including meaningful use dollars.

In light of this, Qualifacts will only support the most recent version of IE (currently IE 11). New features and functionalities will not be tested or developed to meet the requirements on any browser older than IE 11. With the Production release of the CareLogic One Click Menu system on January 14, 2017, only IE 11 will be supported.

CareLogic does not support Internet Explorer version 11 in Metro mode. Internet Explorer ver‐sion 11 must be used in Desktop mode.


2. Choose Internet Options.

3. In the Browsing History section, click Settings.


4. In the Check for newer versions of stored pages section, select Every time I visit the web‐page > click OK.

5. Click the Security tab. 6. In the Select a zone to view or change security settings section, click Trusted sites.

There is security functionality in Internet Explorer that may impact the performance of a secure web application like CareLogic. Because Qualifacts Systems is a trusted site, it is safe to set it to a low security level so the application is free to deliver dynamic content.


7. In the Trusted sites section, click Sites.

8. De‐select the checkbox for Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone.

9. Enter the addresses (URLs) in the Add this website to the zone field > click Add.Add the following websites to this zone: ‐ https://*.drfirst.com ‐ https://ui.epcsdrfirst.com ‐ https://*.qualifacts.com ‐ http://*.qualifacts.com ‐ https://*.qualifacts.org ‐ http://*.qualifacts.org ‐ http://code.jquery.com

10.Click Close.

The website http://code.jquery.com is only for those that use the Support Portal.


Configuring Internet Explorer Security Zones 1. In the Security level for this zone section, click Custom level.

2. In the Reset custom settings section, select Low from the Reset to drop‐down > click Reset.

The following security settings only apply to the seven above sites that were placed in the Trusted Site Zone. It is safe to set this zone to a lower security level. These settings have no effect on all other sites, which operate at higher security levels in the global “Internet Zone.”


3. A warning message appears > click Yes.

4. In the Settings list, update the following settings. These settings allow proper CareLogic functionality. All CareLogic users must enable these settings:‐ File download ‐ Font download ‐ Allow script‐initiated windows without size or position constraints ‐ Automatic prompting for the file downloads (this option is not available in IE9)

Users that need to access the Support Portal must update these settings:‐ Display Mixed Content must be set to Enable‐ Enable XSS Filter

Users that need to access DrFirst must update these settings:‐ Accept Third‐Party Cookies must be set to Enable‐ Enable XSS filter setting must be set to Disable

5. Click OK > the security settings window closes, and the security settings are saved.


6. DrFirst users must disable Enable Protected Mode (requires restarting Internet Explorer). Uncheck the checkbox to disable the setting.

7. If you are finished updating the Internet Explorer settings, close all Internet Explorer instances. You do not have to restart your computer.

Configuring Internet Explorer HTTPS Settings

This section tells users how to configure the recommended HTTPS security settings for Internet Explorer when operating CareLogic on Internet Explorer 11.

Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) has been the Internet standard for secure web traffic since 1995. SSL encrypts information sent between a computer’s web browser and a web site’s servers. Web site addresses that start with HTTP send and receive unencrypted information. Site addresses that start with HTTPS addresses, like CareLogic, encrypt all information sent.

the introduction of the POODLE virus in the latest version of SSL. Transport Layer Security (TLS) is the industry recommended best practice for encrypting data in transit and is the replacement protocol for SSL.

Configuring IE HTTPS security settings1. Click the Settings icon (in the upper right corner of the screen).


3. Select the Advanced tab.

4. Scroll down to the end of the Settings list to find the SSL & TLS settings.


5. Make the following selections:

‐ Use TLS 1.0‐ Use TLS 1.1‐ Use TLS 1.2‐ Uncheck Use SSL 2.0 and Use SSL 3.0

6. Click OK to save the Security Certificate settings.7. Once the Internet Explorer settings are updated, close and restart Internet Explorer You do

not have to restart your computer.

Disabling Pop‐up Blockers for CareLogic in Internet Explorer

CareLogic uses pop‐up messages to bring warnings and messages to your attention. You will need to disable the pop‐up blocker.

1. Click the Settings icon (in the upper right corner of the screen).

CareLogic Servers only use TLS, the industry standard replacement to SSL technology. You may continue to use SSL if other websites require it. However, you must enable these TLS settings to use CareLogic.




3. Select the Privacy tab.4. In Pop‐up Blocker section, uncheck the box.5. Click Settings.


6. Enter the addresses (URLs) in the Address of website to allow field > click Add.Add the following websites to this zone: ‐ drfirst.com ‐ epcsdrfirst.com ‐ qualifacts.com ‐ qualifacts.org

7. Once the Internet Explorer settings are updated, close and restart Internet Explorer. You do not have to restart your computer.

Configuring Internet Explorer e‐Prescribing Site Settings

If your system is configured to use e‐prescription, complete the following tasks:

5. After adding necessary websites > click OK.

Removing IE Compatibility View Settings

To remove CareLogic websites to the list of compatibility view sites, perform the following:

1. Launch an Internet Explorer window.2. Click the Settings icon (in the upper right corner of the screen).

3. Select Compatibility View Settings from the menu.

After the January 14, 2017 Production release of the CareLogic One Click Menu system, the Compatibility View settings are no longer required and should be disabled.

Having Compatibility View enabled for qualifacts.org or qualifacts.com will negatively impact system speed and the user experience.

System Administrators must remove any Qualifacts domains from Compatibility View Settings.


4. Select the following websites and click the Remove button:‐ qualifacts.com ‐ qualifacts.org

5. After the Qualifacts sites have been deleted, click Close.6. Once the Internet Explorer settings are updated, close and restart Internet Explorer; you do


If no Qualifacts domains are listed in the Compatibility View Settings list, no additional action is needed.



Setting IE 11 Smooth Scrolling

To enable Use smooth scaling:

1. Launch an Internet Explorer window.2. Click the Settings icon (in the upper right corner of the screen).

3. Choose Internet Options.4. Click the Advanced tab.5. Scroll down to find Use smooth scrolling and check it.6. Click OK.

IE 11 Smooth Scrolling interfered with the previous CareLogic Show Menu functionality. It is now compatible with the One Click Menu system and can be enabled.

The Use smooth scaling IE 11 feature is enabled by default in IE 11. If users had previously dis‐abled it, they may now enable the feature.


Saving CareLogic as an IE Favorite

When using CareLogic, if you create a favorite (bookmark) in Internet Explorer after logging in to CareLogic, the favorite shortcut will access a cached and out of date page.

For example, if you bookmark the Schedule screen after logging in to CareLogic, the next time you access the page using the favorite shortcut, it will not reflect the current information.

To correct this problem, any favorite must be created before logging in to CareLogic. The only favorite you can create in CareLogic is for the login screen.

Clearing the IE Cache

If CareLogic is behaving unexpectedly, clearing the cache often clears up the issue. This action should be the first step when troubleshooting inconsistent CareLogic issues.



Do not create a favorite for any other page except for your CareLogic login page.

To set the CareLogic Login Favorite, use this URL: https://login.qualifacts.org/carelogic


3. Click Delete.


4. Select the following options:‐ Temporary Internet files and website files ‐ removes the temporary files‐ Cookies and website data ‐ removes your saved website cookies

All other options should be unchecked, including Preserve Favorites website date.

5. Click Delete > the Delete Browsing History screen closes, and the selected files are deleted.


Configuring Chrome for CareLogic

Configuring Chrome Settings

This section tells users how to configure the recommended settings for Chrome.

1. Navigate to the Chrome Menu (three vertical dots) > Settings.

2. Scroll down and click Show advanced settings...


3. Scroll down to the Password and forms options.

4. Uncheck Enable Autofill to fill out web forms in a single click to disable the setting.5. Chrome auto‐saves most setting changes. There is no Save button to click. Simply navigate to

any website and the changes will be saved.

Disabling Pop‐up Blockers for CareLogic in Chrome

CareLogic uses pop‐up messages to bring warnings and messages to your attention. You will need to disable the pop‐up blocker for CareLogic URL.

1. Navigate to the Chrome Menu (three vertical dots) > Settings.

The pop‐up blocker may continue to be used. Chrome allows users to set exceptions per web‐site.


2. Scroll down and click Show advanced settings...

3. Scroll down to the Privacy options > click Content settings...

4. Scroll down to the Pop‐ups options > click Manage exceptions...

5. Add an exception for qualifacts.org domains > enter [*.]qualifacts.org > click Done to close the Manage exceptions settings.

6. Chrome auto‐saves most setting changes. There is no Save button to click. Simply navigate to any website and the changes will be saved.


Chrome Favorites

When using CareLogic, if you create a favorite (bookmark) in Chrome after logging in to Care‐Logic, the favorite shortcut will access a cached and out of date page.



Clearing the Cache in Chrome


1. Navigate to the Chrome Menu (three vertical dots) > More tools > Clear Browsing Data...

2. User may also press the keyboard combination Ctrl + Shift + Del while in Chrome to open the Clear Browsing Data pop‐up.

3. The Clear Browsing Data pop‐up opens.




4. Select the following settings:a. Obliterate the following items from: the beginning of time ‐ sets time frame of cached data

to remove, it is best to remove all cached datab. Cookies and other site and plugin data ‐ removes your saved website cookiesc. Cached images and files ‐ removes the temporary filesd. Hosted app data ‐ removes the temporary files

5. Click Clear browsing data.

6. Chrome will clear the browser cache, automatically close the Clear Browsing Data pop‐up and return the user to the main setting page.


Configuring Safari for CareLogic

Configuring Safari Settings

This section tells users how to configure the recommended settings for Safari.

1. Navigate to Safari > Preferences to open the Safari setting control panel.

2. Disable AutoFill > select the AutoFill tab > uncheck the following options if they are checked:a. Using info from my contactsb. User names and passwordsc. Credit cardsd. Other forms

3. Safari auto‐saves most setting changes when you make them. There is no Save button to click. Simply, close the Safari control panel and the changes will be saved.


Disabling Pop‐up Blockers for CareLogic in Safari

CareLogic uses pop‐up messages to bring warnings and messages to your attention. You will need to disable the pop‐up blocker for the CareLogic URL.


2. Disable the pop‐up blocker > select the Security tab > uncheck the Block pop‐up windows option if it is checked.

3. Safari auto‐saves most setting changes when you make them. There is no Save button to click. Simply close the Safari control panel and the changes will be saved.


Enable Safari for Emdeon Compatibility

You must allow Safari to save cookies and website data for Emdeon compatibility.


2. Select the Privacy tab > set the Cookies and website data option to Always allow.



Enable Field Navigation with the Tab Key in Safari

When users try to navigate through radio buttons in the CareLogic UI via the Tab keyboard key, it does not work by default. Users must enable a Safari Accessibility setting for tab field navigation to work correctly.


This is an optional setting and may be enabled per the user’s preference. It is not required to use Safari with CareLogic.


2. Select the Advanced tab > check the Press Tab to highlight each item on the webpage set‐ting in the Accessibility section.


Safari Favorites

When using CareLogic, if you create a favorite (bookmark) in Safari after logging in to CareLogic, the favorite shortcut will access a cached and out of date page.






Clearing the Cache in Safari


1. Navigate to Safari > History.

2. The clear history window opens. Choose Clear all history > click Clear History.

3. Safari will clear the browser cache. Close the clear history window and return to the browser page.


Unzipping Document Library Files on a Macintosh

Files downloaded from the CareLogic Document Library are password protected .ZIP files. While the macOS can natively open unprotected .ZIP files, it cannot open those that are password pro‐tected. Macintosh users must install a .ZIP extracting application to open password protected .ZIP files.

Install a .Zip Extraction App

Open the App Store app on your Macintosh, search for and install a third‐party .ZIP extraction app, such as iZip Unarchiver.

In the Mac App Store, search for iZip. There are several version, but the free iZip Unarchiver is all you need to open password protected .ZIP files. Click Get to download and install the app.

If users try to open a downloaded CareLogic Document Library .ZIP file using the Mac Finder, they will receive the following error message:

You may already have an app for .ZIP file extraction installed on your Mac. Popular ones are WinZip, Stuffit Expander, Extractor, and iZip Unarchiver. If you need to install one, we recom‐mend iZip Unarchiver.


Extract the Downloaded CareLogic Document Library .ZIP file

From your Mac, open the iZip Unarchiver. Then, drag the file onto Drop archive(s) here window.

iZip Unarchiver may ask to select a folder into which you extract the file. The default is the folder in which the .ZIP file is located.


Enter the password into the window and click Start.

The file will be extracted and users can view and use the downloaded file from the CareLogic Document Library.
