User Interface Customer Needs and Engineering Requirements

Customer Needs:

1. The user should be able to wirelessly connect

to the Automated Cat Feeder.

2. The user should be able to add and remove

pets from the system.

3. The user should be able to assign a feeder to

a pet.

4. The user should be able to modify a pet’s

feeding schedule.

5. The user should be able to monitor a pet’s

overall dietary habits and history.

Existing Systems of User Interfaces in Automated Pet Feeders

1. Petnet SmartFeeder

Good: Meets most of the customer needs

Bad: Does not support multiple pets/feeders.i. Platform(s): Android App, iOS App

2. Feed and Go Smart Feeder

Good: Meets most of the customer needs, lots of advanced options

Bad: Very expensivei. Platform(s): Web App, Android App, iOS App

3. Hoison Happypet

Good: Meets most of the customer needs

Bad: Not necessarily user-friendlyi. Platform(s): Android App, iOS App

Concepts Considered and Chosen

Since most of the existing systems were

able to meet the customer needs and

engineering requirements, criteria was

chosen based on the comfort and

familiarity with the development

environment and ability to implement

within the given time frame of the

project.

Ultimately an Android Mobile Application was chosen.
