Step 1:

Visit www.usatestprep.com

Step 2:

Click Member Login.

Step 3:

Enter School ID and Student Activation Code provided by your teacher.

Step 4:

Create username and password, and answer security question.

Step 5:

Click Create Account.

Click Progress to display reports from completed tests.

Click Assignments to display activities assigned by teachers.

Click Classes to find and join appropriate classes.

Click Test Results to filter and view test results.

Click Practice Results: to filter and view results from practice.

Click Game Results: to filter and view game results.

Account Preferences

Step 1:

Click Account Preferences under avatar picture.

Change email, username and password information.

On the homepage, the Student Resources box has some helpful links.

Email Review

Step 1:

Click Email Review to get question of the week emails.

Step 2:

Enter email address and select relevant Test Reviews.

Step 3:

Click Submit.

Important Dates

The Important Dates section includes dates of quizzes, assessments, and standardized tests that will take place during the school year.

Password Card

The Password Card is a helpful reminder of your USATestprep login information. This card can be printed and kept in a secure location.

Step 1:

Click My Classes Tab.

Step 2:

Click Join a Class.

Step 3:

Select Teacher.

Step 4:

Select Class.

Step 5:

Click Join.

All Classes will be listed at the bottom of the homepage.

1.5. Benchmark Tests

Access benchmark tests from the Student Review Box or the Test Review tab.

Student Resources Box

On the student homepage find the Student Resources box.

Step 1:

Click Take a Benchmark Test.

Step 2:

Enter test code provided by teacher.

Step 3:

Click Submit.

Find the Test Review tabs near the top of the homepage.

Step1:

Click Test Review tab.

Step 2:

Click Take a Benchmark Test.

Enter test code provided by teacher and click submit as before.

Benchmark tests can be randomly computer generated or customized by teacher to assess specific standards

1.6. Taking a Test

Other Tests

Within the Test Review tabs are randomly generated tests that do not require a test code.

Step 1:

Under Start a New Test heading, select a test length (small, medium, or large).

Step 2:

Select Teacher.

Step 3:

Select Class.

Step 4:

Click Load Test.

Step 5:

Click Grade My Test Now to compute results or

Save for me to Complete Later to access test at a later time.

1.7. Completing a Saved Test

Access saved tests from the student homepage in the Student Resources box.

Step 1:

Click Complete a Saved Test.

Any tests that were started but not completed will be listed.

Step 2:

Click Complete Test.

The selected test will open and all previously selected answers will be highlighted.

Step 3:

Finish the test and click Grade My Test Now to submit.

1.8. Practice

Practice activities for each test review include:

• Question Activities• Vocabulary Activities• Puzzles• Other Activities

Step1:

Select Level: Domain will review multiple standards and Element will review specific standards.

Step 2:

Select Domain.Select Element if prompted.

Short answer, fill-in the blank, matching and other practice activities allow interaction with standard-based vocabulary.

To practice with vocabulary that will be found on unit tests and state assessments, students can use a word bank to match term with its definition(shown).

Word finds and crossword puzzles are also available for practice and developing knowledge of standard-based vocabulary.

Practice results are available as soon as the activity is completed. These results can be found under the Practice Results tab on the student homepage.

Games can be found within each selected Test Review. Games include:

• Alpine Climber• Sasquatch Olympics• Cheerleader• Walk the Plank• Dance, Dance Robot• Naughty Chicken• SGKS

Step 1:

Click Games.

Step 2:

Click Play Now.

Step 3:

Select Domain.

Step 4:

Select Teacher.

Step 5:

Select Class.

Step 6:

Click Begin Game.

Each game has instructions provided.

Select Teacher and Class to have game results sent to that teacher. For general practice, leave these unselected.

Game results can be found in the student homepage.

Instructional videos can be found on the Videos tab within each Test Review.

A variety of short, instructional teacher demonstrations and narrated presentations are available to review content area concepts.

In addition to watching the instructional videos, other related videos and practice questions are provided to further student understanding.

1.11. Viewing Stored Results

Results from games, practice, and tests are stored on the student homepage. Results can be filtered based on Teacher/Class, or Test.

Results are filtered and display only the specific test requested.

Step 1:

Click Filter Results, and Go.

Step 2:

Click View.

The selected assignmentʼs details will be displayed.

Click View to see question details. Questions can be sorted by correct answer or by strand.

The Test Results display includes:

• Student Average• School Average• Site Average• Original and Retest Scores• Date Completed• Time Elapsed• Scores by Domain

A summary of the test results can be printed.

1.12. Tracking Your Progress on a Test

Progress is the first tab on the lower level of the student homepage.

Step 1:

Select the Test and click Go.

Each score in the selected Test Review will be displayed (by domain).

Step 2:

Click View to see the progress chart.

Progress on each completed test is displayed as a chart.

The completion date for each test is displayed at the bottom of the progress chart.

Progress reports allow students to track improvement and focus on areas where further practice is needed.

2.1. Creating a Teacher Account

Step 1:

Visit www.usatestprep.com

Step 2:

Click on Member Login.

Step 3:

Enter School ID and Teacher Activation Code.

Step 4:

Enter email address as your username, create a password, and answer security question.

Step 5:

Click Create Account.

2.2. Teacher Homepage

The teacher homepage has important information.

Click Classes to create classes and add students.

Click Student Results to use a filter to view student results.

Click Benchmarks to create and manage specific standard assessments.

Click Assignments to create and manage student assignments.

Account Preferences can be changed and updated.

Step 1:

Click Account Preferences under avatar picture.

Step 2:

Change email, username and password information. Add a security question that can be used to recover a forgotten password.

2.3. Teacher Resources

The Teacher Resource box found on the homepage, stores helpful resources including:

• Account Information: View student logins and subscription dates.

• Email Review: Sign up to receive vocabulary terms and test question via email.

• Important Dates: View dates for standardized testing.

• Password Cards: Keep track of login information (shown).

• Training: Schedule in person and online help sessions.

• Parent Letter: Send parents reminders of upcoming tests and study resources.

• Wall signs: Post Test Review reminders in the classroom.

• Tournament Brackets Print competition brackets for use with SGKS game(shown).

• How to Video: View videos to help learn the website.

• Student Activation Cards: Print login information for student access.

2.4. Navigating to a Test Review

From the teacher homepage, use the Test Review tabs to access resources for specific tests.

Step 1:

Click Test Review tab.

The Test Review page includes:

• Benchmark Testing: Create benchmarks and view results .

• Online Resources: Put a question on a website or watch instructional videos.

• Print Resources: Access quiz, worksheets, and other printer-friendly documents.

• Daily Resources: View a random question or video that is aligned to the curriculum.

• Other Tabs: Find Test, Practice, Game, and Video activities.

2.5. Creating a Class

On the teacher homepage, locate the Classes tab.

Step 1:

Click Create New Class.

Step 2:

Enter Class Name.

Step 3:

Select Test Review(s).

After selecting the Test Review, be sure to scroll down and save.

Step 4:

Click Save Changes.

2.6. Viewing Student Results

Student results for game practice and test activities can be viewed from the teacher homepage.

Step 1:

Select filters for Students, Classes, Activity, Test or Dates.

Step 2:

Click Go and the data will be displayed.

Step 3:

Click View.

This displays the selected activity in greater detail. Click View to see individual question details. Questions can be sorted by correct answer or by strand.

Student results can be printed.

Other tools in the Student Results tab include:

• Archive: Move older tests to archive to view only recent results.

• Nightly Email Summary: Select to receive emails of student results.

• Export to Excel: Student results will be displayed in a spreadsheet.

2.7. Creating a Benchmark Test

Benchmark tests are customized assess student progress at the Test, Domain, and Element level.

Step 1:

From the teacher homepage, click Benchmarks.

Step 2:

Click Create New Benchmark.

Step 3:

Select Teacher and Class.

Step 4:

Enter Name and Test Review. Select Test Level to assess with a small, medium or large test over multiple standards. Select customize for only specific elements. Click Continue.

Benchmarks can include student retests, viewing results and random question order.

Custom Level Benchmarks will provide a selection of domains and sub-elements from which to choose. The number of selected questions are displayed at the top corner of page.

Creating a Benchmark Test Continued

Step 5:

Review created benchmark. When satisfied, click Save Benchmark.

Questions can be removed or replaced.Five similar questions are provided as alternative options when replacing a test question.

A summary of the created Benchmarkʼs details will be provided.

Be sure to provide the Benchmark Code to students to allow them access to the test.

Printable Benchmark Code Cards are provided.

2.8. Creating an Assignment

Assignments are game, practice, or test activities that can be assigned to specific students or classes.

Step 1:

On homepage, click Assignments.

Step 2:

Click Create New Assignments.

Step 3:

Enter Name, Assignment, and Test Review and other activity details. Click Continue.

Step 4:

Enter the Start and End Dates that student will be permitted to complete assignment. Click Continue.

Step 5:

Assign activities to a class or specific students. Click Save Assignments.

Only students/classes enrolled within that Test Review will be displayed.

It is important that the assignment and classes have the same Test Review to assign activities.

A variety of print resources are available.

Step 1:

Click on Test Review tab.

Step 2:

Click Quiz for short assessments.

ClickWorksheet for vocabulary practice.

Click Activity for organizers, labs, and maps.

Click Puzzles for crosswords and word finds.

Click Study Guide Dojo for study checklists.

Step 3:

The resource will open in a new, printer-friendly window.

For most print resources, a key is provided.

2.10. Online Resources

Online resources can be found for each Test Review.

Step 1:

Click a Test Review tab.

Step 2:

Click Put Question/Vocab on Website or Videos.

HTML code is provided to put questions on a teacher blog or school website. Instructional videos review concepts.

If choosing to add questions to a website, there are four steps:

Step 1:

Select a Test.

Step 2:

Enter Name, Email and URL. Copy the web address directly from a browserʼs address bar.

Step 3:

Click Generate Code.

Step 4:

Select and copy the HTML code provided. Place code anywhere between the <body></body> tags for questions and vocabulary to appear.

The preview is an example of what the questions and vocabulary will look on a website.

The Admin Tab on the homepage will be visible to users with administrative privileges. With administrative privileges, instructional coaches, department chairs, and principals can oversee data tracking and user functions for all the USATestprep accounts at their school.

Step 1:

Click Admin Tab.

On the Account Admin page, a list of all student users is displayed. Student accounts, progress, and login information can be viewed.

Click Edit to make changes to student information.

Click Merge to combine students with multiple accounts.

Click Export to Excel to view student information in a spreadsheet.

Student accounts can also be disabled or deleted. Use caution, deletions cannot be reversed.

Managing Students Continued

The Bulk Upload students feature can add an entire database of students from a CSV or XLS file.

Step 1:

Click Bulk Upload Students.

Step 2:

Click Choose File to upload a CSV or XLS file. An example of the correct format is provided.

Step 3:

Click Upload Students.

Students can be also be added individually.

Step 1:

Click Add Single Student.

Step 2:

Enter required information.

Step 3:

Click Create Account.

On the Account Admin page, administrators can use the filter to search for students by name.

3.2. Managing Teachers

On the Account Admin page, teacher accounts can be managed in the Teacher tab.

Step 1:

Click Admin Tab.

Step 2:

Click Teacher Tab.

A list of all teacher accounts and their number of logins is displayed.

Click Is Admin to give administrative privileges.

Click Merge to combine teachers with multiple accounts(shown).

Click Export to Excel to view teacher information in a spreadsheet.

Teacher accounts can also be deleted on the Account Admin page. Use caution, deletions cannot be reversed.

3.3. Subscription Information

On the Account Admin page, subscription account information can be managed in the Subscription tab.

Step 1:

Click Admin Tab.

Step 2:

Click Subscription Tab.

All Test Review subscriptions will be listed along with their renewal date.

Step 3:

Click PDF Order Form to access an order form.

The order form will open in a new window. Complete the order form to renew existing subscriptions or select additional Test Reviews.

3.4. Data Search

Student results for the entire school can be viewed from the Account Admin page.

Step 1:

Click Admin Tab.

Step 2:

Click Data Search Tab.

Use the filter to view specific student information.

Step 3:

Enter the search criteria for Students, Teacher, Classes, Activity, Test, or Dates. Click Go and results will be displayed.

Click View to display the selected activity in greater detail.

Click View to display individual question details.

Questions can be sorted by correct answer or by strand.

Student results can be printed.

Technical Requirements

1) Are there any specific computer hardware requirements to use the site? To access the site, users will need an internet connected computer.The program is completely web-based, so there is no software to install and maintain. The site is tested in both PC and Mac environments. It works in a Safari browser and Internet Explorer version 6.0 or higher.

Accessing Student Data

2) Can teachers track individual student progress? Yes. Once students set up individual accounts, all completed activities are saved to the Results area. Teachers can login with their account and view student progress, track their weak areas, or monitor student activity.

3) Is their training and assistance for using the site? USATestprep's goal is to provide a website that is easy-to-use for students and teachers alike. Most common questions are addressed in the "Videos" section. Additional training opportunities include:

• Free Public WebinarsFree webinars detail some of our most commonly used features. Use a computer microphone and speakers (VoIP) -or, call in.

• Fall User MeetingsUser Meetings are hosted in several states for both experienced users and new subscribers. Meetings are held from 9am-1pm and the cost is $50 per registrant.

• Personal Online WebinarFor specific training, online training sessions can be scheduled via GoToMeeting The cost is $50 per half hour for up to 15 people.

• On-site TrainingFor a school or district that desires large group training, an in-depth half-day training session is provided on location The cost is $500 plus travel expenses.
