4. Finish is not UV-resistant. All USG Donn Brand Suspension Grid Systems should not be installed where directly exposed to sun orweather.

The Donn AdvanceSpan Systems described in this report, are assemblies used in interior general-use areas only. The suspended ceilingsystems consist of DXASHRC & DXTASHRC Main Tees, US44 Channel Molding with US44CC Channel Clips, ASMTSP Splice Plates,and ASCBC Cross Brace Clips. All steel framing members (Main Tees, Cross Tees, & Wall Molding) have a minimum Type G30 hot-dipped galvanized coating and are manufactured using ASTM A653 steel with a minimum yield strength of 30-ksi. US44CC Channel Clipsand ASMTSP Splice Plates are manufactured from minimum 30-ksi steel conforming to ASTM A653 with a minimum G90 galvanizedcoating.

Donn AdvanceSpan Ceiling System shall be installed in accordance with the provisions of ASTM C636 and ASTM E580 unless otherwisequalified through testing. This suspension system has been uniform load tested in accordance with the methods outlined in ASTM C635with modifications for longer spans.
This report covers the USG Donn AdvanceSpan Suspension System. USG Interiors, LLC has a Product Evaluation Service Agreementwith Pei Evaluation Service® (Pei ES) / Follow-up Inspection Service Agreement with Progressive Engineering Inc. (Pei ). Themanufacturing location shown in this PER has an approved Quality Control Manual and is audited Quarterly by Pei .
Meets the requirements of ASTM C635 (modified) and installation requirements of ASTM C636 as required in the 2012/2015 IBC.
1. Donn AdvanceSpan Systems shall be installed in accordance with the Donn AdvanceSpan Installation Guide (AC3325) and aresubject to the conditions of this PER. A copy of the installation guide shall be made easily available to the installer.2. Complies with ASTM C635 and must be installed in accordance with ASTM C636, ASTM E580, CISCA, and standard industry practices,within applicable code requirements.

1. All systems are approved for use in Seismic Design Category A, B, and C. Systems approved for Seismic Design Category C may be considered IntermediateDuty installations, and systems approved for Seismic Design Category D,E, & F may be considered Heavy Duty installations in accordance with the definition from 2. Systems from Table 3 are limited to use with the maximum unsupported length shown. Unsupported length is maximum main tee span between wall moldingsupports without the use of hanger wires, perimeter wires, or splay wires.

Maximum system weight was achieved by using two layers of Gypsum Lay-in Panels (GLIP) for Heavy Duty installations and one layer of GLIP with 1 layer ofRadar panels for Intermediate Duty installations. Alternative lay-in panels of equivalent plan dimensions (2'x2' or 2'x4' as applicable) may be utilized as long as thesystem weight does not exceed that shown in Table 3 for the respective system.

2. Expansion joints are required at all corridor intersections and junctions of corridors at lobbies or other similar areas.
13.5.6.2.2 - Modifications to ASTM E5801. When installed in exitways of hospitals and essential service buildings, each lay-in tile/board/panel and lightfixture or grille shall be installed with either a main tee or cross tee surrounding all sides. Lateral force diagonalbracing may be omitted in the transverse direction for spans between braced partition walls of less than 8 feetassuming perimeter support is provided in accordance with ASTM E580 Sections 5.2.2 and 5.2.3. Connectionsmust be designed to resist the ceiling lateral forces.

This PER supplement provides details of California Building Code (CBC) compliance for the USG Donn AdvanceSpan suspension systemdescribed in PER-16100.
803.1.1 - Lay-in ceiling panels and other finish material shall be classified in accordance with ASTM E84 or UL 723. Refer to 2016 CBCTable 803.11 for classification requirements based on occupancy.808 - The USG Donn AdvanceSpan suspension system meets the requirements of acoustical ceiling systems when installed in accordance with ASTM C635 and ASTM C636. All acoustical finish materials used in combination with the grid system shall meet the requirements of CBC Section 803. Fire-resistance rated construction has not been evaluated.
1616.10.16 - Modifications to ASCE 7, Section 13.5.6
Exception - Lateral force diagonal bracing and ASTM E580 perimeter installation requirementsmay be omitted as applicable for seismically qualified designs described in PER -16100 Table 3.See PER -16100 Figures 5 and Figure 6 for alternative perimeter installation options in SeismicDesign Category D, E, & F.
13.5.6.1 - When determining seismic forces, the weight of the ceiling (Wp) shall not be taken less than 4 psf and the calculated seismic force (Fp) shall be transmitted through the ceiling attachments to the building structural elements. Connections to the building structural elements and the ceiling-structure boundary shall be evaluated by a registered design professional.
Exception - The USG Donn AdvanceSpan system has been evaluated for the longer spans as indicated in Table 2 of PER -16100 when otherwise installed in accordance with ASTM C635 and ASTM C636.
13.5.6.2 - USG AdvanceSpan grid system may be designed in accordance with ASTM E580 Section 5.2.8, seismic qualified in accordance with ASCE 7 Sections 13.2.5 or 13.2.6 (See PER-16100 Table 3), or otherwise designed and constructed in accordance with CBC modifications to ASCE 7 Sections 13.5.6.2.1 and 13.5.6.2.2.
Exception - The USG Donn AdvanceSpan system has been evaluated for the longer spans indicated in Table 2 of PER -16100 when otherwise installed in accordance with ASTM E580 with CBC modifications.
13.5.6.2.1 - For Seismic Design Categories D, E, and F, the USG Donn AdvanceSpan grid system described in PER-16100 Table 2 shall be designed and installed in accordance with ASTM C635, ASTM C636, and ASTM E580 with CBC modifications and exception for longer spans evaluated. Exceptions to lateral bracing of partition walls supporting the perimeter of the suspended ceiling system (see ASCE 7 Section 13.5.8.1) shall not be used in Seismic Design Categories D, E, or F.

3. Metal panels and non-acoustical panels weighing more than 0.5 pounds per square foot shall be positively attached to the ceiling suspension grid unless otherwise seismically qualified in accordance with Table 3 of PER-16100.4. Lateral force bracing is required for all ceiling areas greater than 144 square feet when the perimeter support in accordance with ASTM E580 Sections 5.2.2 and 5.2.3 are provided. Perimeter walls must be designed to resist the ceiling lateral forces and horizontal restraint point spacing shall not exceed a spacing of 12 feet by 12 feet. Bracing wires must be secured with four tight twists in 1.5 inches.5. A minimum 6" clearance is required between ceiling support/bracing and all pipes, ducts, conduits, and equipment that are not braced for horizontal forces, unless approved by the building official.
2506.2.1 - USG Donn AdvanceSpan has been evaluated in accordance with ASTM C635 and Section 13.5.6 of ASCE 7. Table 2 of PER-16100 provides details of approved spans longer than the standard 4 feet for both Heavy Duty and Intermediate Duty use. See CBC Sections 1616.10.16 and 1616A.1.21 for modifications to ASCE 7 Section 13.5.6 and ASTM E580. Refer to Table 3 of PER-16100 for designs that have been seismically qualified through AC156 shake table testing.
