Using the Brain in Hand App BiH UE Event Demo – v1.0 1 Brain in Hand is an assistive technology, used in educational settings to assist the user to overcome barriers to learning, and target support and intervention to where and when it is most needed. Brain in Hand is ideal for people who sometimes struggle to make decisions about and respond quickly to everyday challenges. Our users have a wide variety of conditions, including those with autistic spectrum conditions, mental health difficulties, specific learning difficulties or brain injury. In order to assist you to demonstrate to, or establish the suitability of Brain in Hand for, a student you can download the app to a device, and login to a demonstration account. Brain in Hand is compatible with most new smartphones and tablets running the latest android or iOS operating systems. To access your Brain in Hand demo, you will need to download the app onto a smart device: If you are using an Android device, click on the Google Play Store and search for “braininhand”– Available for Android Version 4.0.3 and above If you are using an iOS device (iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad), click on the App Store and search for “brain in hand” – Available for iOS Version 6.0 and above Download the app to your device and log on using your organisation/centre account to see the many ways in which Brain in Hand can support students with their self-management strategies. Demo Username: Centre-Name@demo.co.uk (or use [email protected]) Password: demo Using Brain in Hand Users can identify situations where they have difficulty, and plan solutions in advance. Smartphone technology means their personal strategies are always available, anytime anywhere via an app on their mobile or tablet device, to refer to when needed, help minimise anxiety and increase their confidence and independence. Students can keep track of their own anxiety using the Traffic Light system on their app (the Brain in Hand website will create a timeline of all app activity, for review later). They can use the Traffic Lights to set prompts, record successes and request support to keep their day on track. It is essential that students create their own account, so that the entries are tailored to their individual needs. This is a demonstration account based on other student users’ entries, and does not have full functionalty. Please visit our stand, or contact us on [email protected], to request your own organisation’s login. Get the Brain in Hand App Using the Timeline (on the website)
