This training contains a PowerPoint presentation that will guide you through the General Lab updates for the Cerner Millennium Upgrade PathNet Millennium 2007.08.

At the end of the presentation, you will be given an 8 question assessment.

General Lab UpdatesJanuary 2008

Overview

Although there are no major functionality changes in the new Cerner HNAM Rev (2007.08) versus the current Cerner HNAM Rev (2004.03.08), there have been some minor changes or additions to several of the General Lab applications. The following presentation will reflect some of the updates which may be useful in your day to day usage of PathNet Millennium.

The following applications have been revised and will reflect some changes:1. Order Result View (ORV) a. Demographics Display in ORV. In the future more Demographic banners will

be modified to reflect what is displayed in ORV. Other Applications may also display demographic information differently.

2. Order Result Viewera. Cancel Order.

3. Order Result Viewer APa. The ability to view Anatomic Specimen Request procedures.

4. Explorer Menua. Prompt and program execution displays.

5. Department Order Entry (DOE)a. Will now default previously Scheduled Collection Date and Time.b. Patient Demographic Information is displayed differently.

6. Micro Out-Reach and AP may have some minor screen changes. For BB see PT on BB.

7. PowerCharta. Although not typically used by laboratory staff, there is a newly displayed filter.

Order Result Viewer – Demographics

1. HNAM 2008.08 provides a new Demographics bar displaying more complete patient information in the ORV Order List Mode.

See the example below:Patient’s Blood Group and Rh Type shows in ORV if available.

1. There is new Cancel Order functionality in ORV.

2. If an order is at a status where you are able to cancel it, you can now use the Cancel Order function.

3. Click on the Cancel Order icon.

Be sure you select the procedure you want to cancel by choosing it from the drop down. Enter the Cancel Reason and click the Cancel Order button.

4. You must refresh the screen to view the update.

5. You may also need to customize your display to ensure that cancel information is displayed.

1. The ability to view Anatomic Specimen Request Procedures in ORV is now available.

Explorer Menu

1. There is a new Explorer Menu application display. Note: Prompts are now displayed to the right of the program listing. Please complete all fields as needed.

2. The following window will appear when the selected report is executed. Similar screens will appear when the other reports

from the menu are requested.

3. The Explorer Menu will now display a list of programs you have executed. You may click on a program from the list to execute.

Department Order Entry - DOE

1. Department Order Entry will now default previously Scheduled Collection Date and Time from the previous order. There is no need to re-enter. If a different Collection Date and Time is needed, just modify.

PowerChart

1. Although not typically used by laboratory staff, there is a newly displayed filter in PowerChart orders. Not setting this filter correctly may filter orders differently than expected.
