Slide 2 Using widgets to responsibly disseminate ACS data Presented by: Ben Horwitz Slide 3 Slide 4 Slide 5 5-Year American Community Survey has several difficulties. Census tract data comes with high margins of error. Error terms become larger when aggregated to the neighborhood level. 2005-2009 ACS data includes Pre-Katrina data. 2006 and 2007 ACS data includes significant population shifts in the immediate aftermath of Katrina. Slide 6 Slide 7 Slide 8 Slide 9 Slide 10 Slide 11 Slide 12 Slide 13 Slide 14 Slide 15 GNOCDC user tested our new pages and widgets with community members before releasing to the public. Community members provided valuable feedback to make the site more user-friendly. They found the just-in-time learning helpful in answering questions that came up during the user testing. And, seemed to develop a profound sense of accomplishment with using and understanding the margin of error and statistical significance! Slide 16 GNOCDC believes these widgets help us responsibly disseminate ACS data at the neighborhood level. The new web pages received 11,754 unique visits, or 165 per day. The widgets have been viewed 87 unique times. If youd like to see more, visit our website: www.gnocdc.org
