Get a niche

• If you present on subject you are an expert
• Go on training to improve your skills if you need to
Do some research
• Cochrane Systematic Review – originally done in 2002, updated 2006
• Written by theatre nurses originally – one now a Professor at DMU
• Got funding from Cochrane to do research into something they wanted to know about – real interest
• Travels the world to speak to conferences and as expert witness!
Benefits
• There should be benefits to both sides for a study tour
• We all gained from mine – Anne and Catherine, who I met at Monash are leading workshops at this conference
• Cathy now attends guidelines meeting – got access when she said I was visiting and interested in guidelines
• RCH considering CL pilot• CL appointed at RMH• IP Medline on OVID• Investigated electronic
